How well does the ASS trem stay in tune? I usually use trems for basic vibrato during chordal passages, or tough bends that I can't use vibrato decently. I am still up in the air between a jp6 and an ASS. What do you guys have for opinions? How about pickup differences? I played both, loved both. However, the ASS was maple neck, and I want rosewood, so I wasn't sure how to compare the two. Thanks in advance!

They both stay in tune perfectly, so there's no problem about that.
The Jp has a tighter sound than the ASS, the ASS has got more of a classic rock sound, but it's versatile so you can pretty much get any sound out of it.
Personally I prefere the JP

I like to listen to bands like Rush, Porcupine Tree, and Dream Theater, but I also love to play those stratty/classic rock tones. I like to play a lot of pop-ish stuff too, like dave matthews (sounds cool on electric!) blackfield, and extreme. Hence why I am so torn. Plus, got to love the ASS transparent color choices...BFR's are too pricey for me. I like having more options with the ASS too. Hmmmm

Looks like the ASS is the guitar for you ;)
it's not the best to play dream theater, but in these days with all the effects there are you can probably get close to that sound, even with a maple neck

Pittman my freind, you need to get what suits you best, but here is my 2 cents, I have owned every ball except a Silo and an Axis, every single one of them is fantastic, but for me it is a search for the holy grail the one or ones that make me play well and have the tones I hear in my head.

JP is a fantastic guitar, very versatile, many dont like the thin wide neck, now that I have owned my ASS for a week i am in love with all the possibilities, the trem on both is perfect, I have beat the hell out of the ASS and still in tune, love them both but I am becoming an ASS man, love all the cool cruncy classic tones and blues tones I am getting out of it, so get what you want but I can recommend an ASS, and with peiizo nice choice:D

Mmm, lots to talk about.

I have owned a JP (briefly) and an ASS. Both are great guitars, but very VERY different. The necks are like chalk and cheese and you should try before you buy if possible.

My first guitar was a Fender Am deluxe Tele. It has been outshone in every way by my EB Musicmans except tuning stability. If you have your guitars set like mine (fully floating), you must expect some tuning "issues". These are simply that you are balancing six steel wires (which stretch and contract), on a 2 or 3 fairly insubstantial springs. Add in the climate factors and it's a wonder the damn thing is playable at all!!

You won't find a better bang-for-bucks guitar than a EBMM, but trems (whatever their pursuasion), need pretty regular tuning.

Best of luck with your deliberations, and don't overlook a hardtail option!!

I wouldn't say the ASS is classic rock guitar, to me it's a rock machine.. classic or not. It could totally handle Dream Theater, and it stays in tune just as good as any of the other Balls.

I say get a Luke, my friend.. they can handle ANYTHING..

But, if you want a pure rock/metal machine.. go JP. The JP can handle other styles, but not nearly as well as say a Luke, Silo, or ASS.

Do what feels right, my man! Use the force, dude!

I"ve had an Axis for a few years, and just recently got a JP6. The necks are very different. JP6 being quite flatter and wider. So far Axis' neck feels very natural and better to me but that JP6 is growing on me real fast.

Like another poster mentioned above they are such different guitars that you really owe it to yourself to try both before buying.
