I tried mine last night too Butch...and I agree the tone is simply amazing even through my crappy Marshall MGHDFX100 head.
I no longer have a need for my Gibson LP. It either gets tucked away for good for future resale (2 year old daughter just got ahold of it a few weeks back and put a nasty pen size gash on the bottom) or I just bite the bullet and sell it now.
Congrats man!!!!
My advice on the LP? Sell it.....
