Hey Pzo......I know this is crazy...but search yodavanhalen on the forum...read his story and hear him play.....

This brings me to you got lemons...you need to make lemonade.

Your right hand works, right? how about lets figure out how to get you playin music one handed. THinkin about it I would probably start with a little foam muting under the bridge to keep the open string overtones in check. Play the easiest song you can and make your right had tap the note to get the attack... work with the eq and work on playin in time I dont care if its Gloria or wild thing...lets get the bass back on your shoulders!

I know this is not ideal but it is making music and expressing your self.........the left hand will follow......

Did you guys check-out one of the bands on that TV show America's Next Greatest Band (or whatever it's called) where the bass player rocked with his feet? There's some inspiration and a good example of BP's lemonaide analogy.

Great idea BP! :D

This got me thinking (dangerous I know) and while I would never promote anyone converting to playing left handed, but I’d be happy to send Pzo one of my basses. You could experiment with hammer-on playing; restring it righty, do whatever might work for you. It would put the neck closer to your right hand. Just a thought.

a lefty bass should be perfect for it!
take a look at what roscoe beck did with robben ford. any live recording from the early 90'ies should be a prime example of what can be achieved :)

ps: i know he plays the wrong brand, but still is a good musician.. :D

Hey BP and Y'Zall, Tnx again for the tough love and the kick in the head, To me, it's a bit of a bum deal that the therapists who worked me over back in the general hospital actually worked on my left arm to a point but the one's here in rehab are under orders to ignore it :(because it's so inactive 'til now with poor feeling and no significant signs of "spontaneous recovery" ... Lucky for me that my Sweetheart isn't buying into what the rehabdoctors told the therapists ... SWEETIE is determined to work on "Lefty and get him goin' again until I can get a job and pay for some acupuncture... She's convinced I'll be playing the SR5s again with 2 hands:) the most encouragement I've had here was to program music with a computer and work on hitting the "Start" button with "Lefty ... needless to say the doctors have no "feeling" for music:p, which to me is what bass is all about:)
Tnx again Y'Zall:)

Never give up Pzo, Have the sweetie pull that bass out and bang on it with the right hand for now. Theory will only take you so far. Playing bass is a contact sport. Just play some open notes and put some funk in it with the right hand. If there is a will there will be a way. Just hearing that tone you love should excite the neurons alone. :D

BP, I don't post often enough, but I never cease to be amazed at how much you give of yourself to this forum! You are a big part of the reason why I play EB basses and use EB strings. Thanks!

Pzo, wishing you all the best and the fastest and most complete recovery as possible. I've been through that crap late last year, still have some slight noticeable consequences, but I have recovered 95% of my playing ability. I know it's possible if you want it and keep the faith.

And, as many others already stated, I'm completely blown away by BP's constant care in and around the EBMM world.

HowDPsycho ward and a BIG TNX for your suggestion and very generous special offer... as it turns out, I'm under special weekly left arm rehab treatments under the hopeful eye and special touch of my SWeetie and she's determined to be a regular RH SR5bass player's galpal, the sooner the better and she's completely OK about helping me load the car and copilot too:) "What a darling" she is and "What a Lucky man", I am, to benefit from her support and care; there's certainly something very special about people who love and take care of folks who've been hit by CVAs:)or other hard impact illnesses and special good vibes and prayers to any of YouZ'all who have friends or family members on the sick lists these daze... hang in there there's better daze ahead, I promise !!:)

and BIG TNX again to BP and You'Z'all for your vibes and support and for keepin' the homefires burnin' all along.:)
