Are the 3 Seymour Duncan custom wound single coils featuring the exclusive, patented Music Man® "Silent Circuit", that are stock in the Albert Lee model, available for purchase separately. I have an ash strat that I would love to try those in.

You cannot buy the pups individually, you can buy a fully loaded Al pickguard though, but really why not just buy an AL beats the hell out of a strat and sounds way better, even putting AL pups in the strat wont compare to how great an Al sounds.

The actual guitar is out of the question because I have no budget for it. The most I can do is change the pups in the guitar I already own. Any tips on where a loaded Al pickguard might be purchased?

Sell the strat and buy an AL, anyways contact any EBMM dealer they can get you one of the loaded pickguards, I always recommend DuBaldo Music,
contact is [email protected].

And an AL is a strat killer, plus you can get a tele sound if wanted from it best of both worlds.

As Rob says, they're the Alnico IIs. For some reason, I think the ones in the AL are wound on a smaller bobbin. But the stock ones should sound pretty close.

There's a Seymour Duncan forum- you might be able to get more detailed info over there, or just email the folks at SD directly (they've always been helpful to me).

Interesting as I have a set of SD Alnico II's on a custom Strat, but I don't have the benefit of the silent circuit. Great pickups, I just get annoyed by the HHHUUUUUMMMM.

I really appreciate all the insight here. I have looked into the Duncans on their website, and I can here a bit of that sound in the samples they have. I imagine that the remainder of the sound is the rest of the guitar and Albert's processing and amplification. Thanks for your help on this.
