Guys.... ok, so in the haste of G.A.S. I've purchased some bunk stuff, but I'm currently renting an Avalon U5 DI and boy is it reeeeeally good on a StingRay5 , even without using the Tone feature it's still great but the Tone options are killer. Great piece of gear, I'm using it and a powered Mackie SRM450 for rehearsals (and not quiet rehearsals either) and the tone is outrageous! of course I will take some credit for my fingers but dang, the Avalon sounds puuurrrrty! :p

this might seem a stupid question, but what does a DI actually?
I thought it was a tool to connect your bass directly into the PA system, am I right? and is it possibly to combine it with a regular (practice?) amp?
I'd like to ad a bit more of versatility to my stingray, if you know what i mean.
thanks in advance.

you're right, most DI's just match impedence but the Avalon DI also has a 'Tone' circuit that has 6 preset EQ curves and so the Avalon can also act as a pre-amp as well as just a DI. My suggestion is try it out first and if it suits what you're doing then giv'er! :D

the problem is that i live in belgium, and over here, you don't find many things, just the most popular branches (like i've never seen a GK or eden in a shop).
I'm planning on buying a new rig, but i need to upgrade slowly, since i bought this beautifull stingray, i'm out of money:rolleyes:
