I'll gladly call dibs on that! tunaman4u2 you're killing me bro!! I'm getting crazy stoked about this. A warmer jazz sound is definitely something that I'm looking for. I've heard from so many sources that its going to blow the doors off my Fender Jazz. Maybe even toss it into a new dimension! Shweet!!! Just by hearing your description of that position its definitely going to be useful in a lot songs that we are going to cover. Just out of curiousity whats the cleanest pick up posistion? Something that will be best covering Red Hot Chili Peppers Hump de Bump and Charlie?

My favorites are 2, 3 and 5 and then moving my right hand around. I like to add alot of bass on the tone knobs too. I need another sterling!

Five7, totally true... to play Gimmie 3 steps I love playing off the bridge pickup, its very comfortable & still in a position where you are able to get enough pull on the strings to keep the volume right. When I play RHCP I like the 2nd position for Soul to Squeeze. You play a lot of higher notes & it just pops better. No weak D & G string with position 2, thats for sure

I need to find the right EQ & song for position 1. Maybe its because the other positions cover the tone I need much more. I do use position 4, its my position 5 tone with a little more warmth. Position 3 is the most radically different, what a warm even powerful tone. I use it a lot with picks for songs that I still want to be warm. If I'm playing with a pick & I want a grindy tone I'll go to position 2 or 4. 5 with a pick is really aggressive for the stuff I'm covering.

And we haven't even touched on the EQ, ha ha.

nice! I love a poppy bass especially on the higher strings. I've really ran into issues with many other basses where I'll play finger and then switch to slap and it just not be there, either there are plenty of highs and no lows and muddy mids. I'm sure thats alot of issues that I can fix with EQ's, at least to a certain extent. I still go on youtube and roll everywhere just trying to get all the info I can so I can unleash this beautiful beast! One thing I do want to bring up or ask. Is that front buck in a troublesome spot? As far as slapping is concerned. I know with my style, Im right on the bottom of the neck with slap. I do like to move around a bit especially when I get carried away rockin out. I know every bass is going to be different and have sweet spots that you have to find. Just curious since its been 33 days and its not in my arms. The suspense is killing me!!!

By the way, found a sweet deal on a Warwick corvette pro series ash 4 downtown at a music store. Its a straight passive MEC system. I plugged it in and definitely got some killer slap tones and playing chords gets sooo much mid growl. That neck was laser straight and intonation was spot on. Thinking about making it my back-up lady. Kinda put my Fender out of business. Your thoughts?? Please dont crucify me, I know how some people are about brands. I just love the bass and want to get as many great sounding instruments as I can!

The neck pickup does make slap tougher. I'm not a slapper so it doesnt effect me at all. I want the awesome tone the Sterling can bring period.

She's in!!! Havent had too much time to really play with the sounds but pickup position 4&2 are my favorites so far, definitely gonna take some good EQ work, these pickups are hot!! The neck is fabulous! By far my favorite! I wish it had 24 frets but thats no biggie, and it goes without saying, the looks. Damn!! She looks good! Had to get the matching headstock. All in all I'm highly impressed and I'm ready to see what she can do on Saturday at practice! Thanks Ernie Ball!

Yeah dude! First gig with her on a full Hartke set up and she sounded amazing, I was only on 3.5 wolume on the head and it was still crazy loud and clear. I completely love this bass! Got a Warwick to back her up just in case!
