The guitar color is beautiful. When I opened the case at the shop, a customer let out a gasp when they saw it. I tried not to laugh!

It feels and plays just like my Luke II True Gold, but it sounds very different! The Dimarzio humbuckers sound just great. The volume and tone knobs are silky smooth and the preamp with spank switch is just amazing.

Turning down the guitar, you lose no clarity or tone as the preamp is doing it's job. The tone knob will give you Mark Knopfler/Dire Straits "Money for Nothing" sounds. I've got to play the guitar a bit more to form a better opinion, but overall I have to say I like what I hear. The pickups are dead quiet. I am amazed! No volume jumps between pickup selections either.

LIII is all about the small details. Everything is chrome. From the 5 way switch knob, to the trem arm tip. They redesigned the jack, which I'm very thankful for. The jackplate on my Luke, Axis and Al usually gets tarnished so quickly, hopefully this new jack won't. It's very compact and clean looking.

Just want to say to BP, Dudley and EBMM team, it's always worth the wait to get such a high quality, attention detailed, well made instrument.

Here are some pics of Dudley's magic work:

New jackplate-less jack. I like it.

LIII Mag Preamp. Two little pots at the top are adjustable, although I'm not sure what it adjusts. Probably gain /boost for different pickups?

That battery is getting put to good use.

Shielding is important!

Hmm Olives with chrome cutlery. Love the color scheme. If not for the v neck I might quite like that!

I think the adjustable pots are for the boost level and the adjust parallel-to-series level (the usual volume jump when changing pickup selections)

Kimono those are some crazy pics! It is like you gave it a guitaroscopy lol. Seriously great looking guitar and I have me some Luke GAS. I know you have not had time to really rip it up but when you do give the comparison breakdown since you are the only member with a Luke 1-2-3 at the present.

Tasty instrument! I'd love one myself, but I'd be grumbling about lack of stainless frets as the Petrucci now gets... I'm vain like that.

Congrats!!! I have one of those on order. Looking forward to getting the call.

Can you describe the difference in tone to your ears between your LIII and True Gold Luke? I'm really curious about that.

Loving that color and the rosewood neck! Looks like a lot of fun to play. To be honest though, I personally dont like the chrome covers that much in that color. But it still looks good non the less. Congrats and a wicked axe!

Hi all,

Thanks for the compliments and questions. I didn't have time to take any other guitars out to do any comparison, but I'll try to do one this weekend and jot down some of my thoughts.

I wish I could be home today to play with the LIII more. It really is a sweet instrument.

I may also have time to take better photos with a real camera instead of iPhone.
