My used (newer than the rays at local shops) stingray came from MusiciansFriend today, and it is amazing! It is so much lighter than my only other stingray i had a couple years ago. so anyways, it is light, it is the exact color combo i wanted, sounds and feels amazing, everything is spot on! i couldn't be happier! notta scratch on her!

but honestly, I am shocked at how musiciansfriend packaged this up. i've boughtplenty from them, always excellent shipping and packaging. So i don't know if they have a different company for their "used" gear (seriously? used? still has the stickers and plastic coatings on it!) because this is just bad packaging, even though the Ernie Ball case barely got a scratch on it from the debacle and neither the bass nor the case was damaged. but still... seriously? two pieces of packaging tape holding the precious cargo in the flimsy, incomplete brown box! I took this before I touched anything on the package, just took it downstairs. What you see is how it arrived.

I guess this is just a testament to how well EBMM guitars and cases hold up, well done!

wow ... that is truly pathetic. Guess they figured, "hell, it's in a case, whadaya want?". Well, congrats on the score, anyway.

I'm very doubtful that musicians friend packaged it like that unless they're cutting back on cardboard to save a few dollars. Most likely, the end of your box got damaged somehow during transit, they cut it off, and someone did a quick fix to keep the bass in the box.

I had similar experience with MF shipping. A while back I bought a Nord Electro 2 keyboard from them. We're talking a $1350 keyboard. They shipped in it's regular manufacturer's box. They didn't put that box inside a another shipping box. It arrived 'alive' but no doubt wouldn't take much for something to drop right through the box or have someone put their foot through it and physically crush the keyboard.

Haven't ordered a big ticket item from them since. Only reason I bought it from them was that it wasn't available locally.

FWIW, I received my Classic Stingray from BC last Friday shipped in it's case with a regular guitar shipping box, similar to what you received. Except mine was completely intact and taped securely and had bubble wrap inside on each end.

BTW - nice bass!

Thanks for the compliments fellas, truly a great bass guitar.

Yeah I really doubt it left MF like that, but still... they just plop it in a box, no bubble wrap/cardboard on the ends? Not what I'd do, but like I said I'm glad it arrived unscathed. ;)

Awesome bass - nice one.

Those cases take quite a battering don't they?

This case belongs to Albert Lee and he still uses it!!!

Nice Bass, and well loks new as wel to be used, but man that box is/was scary, i doubt it left MF like that, I buy alot of stuff from them, some big, some small and all are packed well and generally double boxed. looks like UPS damaged it in shipping and put a band aid on it.

I would contact MF CS, they are great, let them know and send the pics, they usually do something for you when you have a complaint or issue.

Hmmm. I hate to be a party pooper here, but I would have contacted customer service at MF before posting here. It may not have been their fault at all but the shipper. But now you may be implying it is their fault, even though you don't know yet.

I only post my dissatisfaction on some internet site AFTER I fail to get my problem resolved. I think this thread is premature.

Hey, no dissatisfaction here, like I said above I doubt it left MF like that.

I'm not going to complain to anyone, just thought it was a good show of EBMM ruggedness and durability!

Sweet bass! That is very disappointing how it showed up though. I would try to get to the bottom of who sent it that way and have a talk with their management.

Years ago, I bought a Burnt Apple SR4 from some kid on the other side of Texas. EBay deal, as I recall.

When the bass arrived, he'd shut the latches, put a shipping label on the case and sent it on its way.

No box, no packing, no nothing.

And you know - it was fine.

Scary when it showed up, though!

There is something so cool about a battered case. Not sure what but you KNOW that has some serious miles on it.

Ouch! At least everything is in good condition. But really?! How could anyone send a package off like that? Must have been awful frightening when you saw it like that. I would have almost been too scared to open it.
