Went a little crazy this week and installed a set of sd invaders. Took some doing to get the zebra thing going, but it all turned out okay. Thinking of tapping them next week. The sound is huge compared to stock.

Unlike the OLP which had an awful photo top, the AX40 & 20 have a real maple veneer top. I’m not sure how thick it is... I’m sure Pat will be along soon to chip in.

Congrats Buggy. I'm happy to see that you didn't give up on her. She looks great.

As far as the thinckness of the maple goes, I asked Pat Park that question on an earlier thread. Although I knew the figuring was a paper-thin maple veneer, I wanted to know if that veneer was put over a piece of maple of the same relative thickness as the Axis. The answer is that the it is only a maple veneer, and there is no thicker piece of maple under it.

The neck is the main attraction for me. I couldn't imagine changing necks. That would kill the guitar for me.

The AX40 neck is great. I actually AB it with the AX20, and it's actually better than the AX20 neck, not sure why, but the size and shape are different.
