Im new here and love ebmm guitars in particular the evh and axis, I cannot afford one of those fine guitars at the moment,so i got the sterling ax40. I got to say it is an awsome guitar, the only thing i wish was different were the neck, i dont like the poly, so i sanded it down to bare wood and gave the hand rubbed oil wax finish of its big brothers. It came out amazing, I will post some pics. But I was also thinking if I should change the pickups. I got to admit the stock pickups are amazing, so i might leavd them, any suggestions on making this guitar better?

Before you go a swappin', be sure that you don't have an AX40D. Those pickups are the real deal DiMarzio AXIS pickups. Easy to tell, as they say DiMarzio on the underside of the pickup embossed into the metal

This was a major rollout, NAMM 2013. The SBMM AX30D, and AX40D have the SAME custom DiMarzio's as their big brother, the Axis Link Here.

Also, the Silo30D has the same DiMarzio's as the EBMM Silhouette Link here and finally the JP100D comes equipped with the LiquiFire & CrunchLab Link here.

NICE UPGRADE!!! :D

I have to admit, to me the AX40 is the best import guitar made.. It is almost identical to it's big brother, The Axis..! I own a EVH and a Axis, but I may still buy one as a backup..!

The one I have mentioned is the regular Ax40 in trans gold. I got it used for around $320.00. Great buy! I love it so much I might leave it alone. People have mentioned changing the bridge to a gotoh or ofr but I think the stock one is fine. This guitar has such good tone for high gain, or anything else Ive played. Im using a marshall class 5. And some modeling software, jamup pro XT for the I phone or pad has really good tone for guitarists on a budget like myself. Someday I would like a evh 5150 III or even an old peavey 5150.

Such a smooth playing guitar, love everything about it, shape ,weight, neck, playability, ect. By far the best guitar for soloing ever created! The Evh , axis, ax40 , awsome stuff ebmm and sbmm are putting out.i cant wait untill someday I can own a real EVH or Axis. But that ax40 is almost in the ballpark. Amazing import!
