Axis, Axis SS Custom Tops - Question

Hi All,
I have had 5 MM guitars, 2 Petrucci's, Axis Sport, Axis Super Sport, and a Silhouette Special. I had to sell them all - to sum it up I made a big mistake.

Anyway I just ordered a Axis Super Sport, Cherry Burst Quilt, Tremolo with the Piezo, maple neck with matching headstock. I also got the 500.00 upcharge for the hand picked top and "custom made" neck plate.

Question: for those who saw some of these tops or owns one. Is the top that much nicer and how does the neck plate look? I have looked all over the net and found nothing, no info, no pics, nadda. Remember this question is for the new upcharge tops which EB just started making a few months ago.

Just a side note here, I couldn't decide between the Axis (with floyd) or the Axis SS fully loaded. So I order the Axis SS and found a Amber Quilt Axis here in town --- I love the Axis and can hardly wait for the Super Sport!!!

Wow ..... Still no reply! Maybe it was a dumb question, sorry about that. I thought many people would have spent the cash for the upgraded custom top Axis or Axis SS. I do know that it is basiclly a really nice hand picked top kinda like some of the EVH models has. However since no one has replied maybe there aren't that many people that bought that upgrade on thier order.

I've been checking out places everyday..... looking for a pic or two. Still haven't seen a custom made top-Axis SS, I have seen many other cool tops though. Well I'll post a pic of mine when I get it ..... it could come in any time between today and 3 weeks.

In the mean time I'm loving the Axis I got ... I guess the top is ok.. it's Amber, kinda curly quilted but has also what I call a "ring top" as well (I never saw one of these before)

I know some have thought ....... Gezz this guy had 2 petruccis and sold them ... what a dummy! The funny thing was I had one of the first 50 hand signed blue dawn fully loaded petruccis and the other one was in burnt apple.... Here's the thing, I work at a music store so guitars come and go. I have had over 300 guitars in the past 25 years and drive my wife nuts. Oh well blaa blaa and so on .... I'll leave you with this saying the Jackson rep told me yesterday.... "how many guitars does a guy need anyway?"

Guitarist magazine did a review on the Custom Made Super Sport in the Jan 2003 issue, Cherry sunburst, with a rosewood board. Trust me you WILL NOT be disappointed. the finish is AWESOME and I want one !!! Amazing quilt and the depth seemed never ending. I'd scan the piccy for you but my scanner's knackered. You could try asking for a back issue from Guitarist.co.uk

Hey KEV is this the guitar from the artical you talked about? ..What a nice looking guitar ... and the same everything I ordered execpt I got a maple neck.

The only update I got was my boss talked to EB last week about other stuff and the EB guy (I know his name and talked to him before) said "Oh by the way I went and hand picked the top for that custom order myself" ....... I can't wait!!! But will have too!

I will have to post a pic of mine when I get it.

The SS Custom is on the way!!! We talked to EB Last monday and again Thursday. It's in the mail! Should be here Tuesday, or if a miricle happens Monday, it's already posted in the Dealers inventory on the "EB" web page dealer locator - click to see inventory tab!!! So I know it's really comming! I will charge the battery for my camera and get a Pic or two up for everyone to see. ASAP

Well it's Tuesday morning 8:27am ..... Very Anxious, almost shaking. It did not come in on Monday but IS expected today!! At least I hope so ..... Working at a music store sucks sometimes when I'm on the other end of things. (usually I order for the customers - this time it's for me) My bosses and co-workers and teasing the crap out of me! They were trying to be sneeky and mislead me when it is comming in, they were going to hang it on the wall like it is for sale knowing I'd see it up there and freak out! BUT where's the fun ..... Their having a blast .... I need to remember this.

However I spoiled thier fun cause I saw it listed on the EB website and I know it is comming. Anyway Today or tomorrow (God forbid) I'll start a new thread and Post a few Pics of it the very day it shows up.

WOW and Idea!!!!! I should (since I work my own hours anytime I'm caught up repairing stuff ... and I am) Maybe I'll get the guitar while it is still in the box and say see ya!!!!!!! Come home and open it up here!!! Hahahahaha
