i use the bridge the most, but i love the muddy tone on the neck....especially on my natural EVH, seems to be warmer than the other 3!

It all depends on what I'm playing, how I'm playing it and how the amp is set.

Well, I picked 'bridge' because normally that's what I use... however, when I play clean I prefer the middle position and the volume rolled off a little. For sweet, fat, singing lead stuff I love the neck position. Clean or dirty.

It really depends on what I'm doing. On a lot of songs I use both pickups multiple different times. I use the pickup switch as am integral part of my playing. It's very instinctual. It's not just with the Axis though, it's something I've always done.

Every position has it's use and they all sound great. I've worn out / broken two selector switches playing through all of the choices.

The AXIS Pups are very versatile, ..I use almost all the positions,........but mostly the bridge, and I use the neck for some soloing, bluesy stuff, etc.

I like them both equally, depending on what sound I'm going for.

Question on these pups however.

I have read numerous "reviews" that state that the bridge pup is essentially a Tone Zone. I've owned a Tone Zone it could not have sounded further from the bridge in my EVH...more output, more bass and mids in the Tone Zone vs the EVH pup.

Is it really known which standard pups are closest?

Agreed. The Tone Zone couldn't be further from the stock EVH bridge pickup. So much so that the EVH pickup may be my favorite pickup and the T.Z. my least favorite.:confused::confused:

^^^^What he said.^^^^

But mostly - the bridge. Nice and really nasty pinch harmonics on my trans-black EVH!

High speed stuff - bridge.
Tunes with "feel" and more laid-back - neck.
