Axis floyd rose question

so, I'm assuming this is the Gotoh floyd on here but the trem arm isn't in a round hole..it's almost like a square socket that slightly pivots...is this normal?
Just bought this guitar so any advice would be great.

That is in fact the Gotoh floyd that was standard on the Axis until some time in 2011. I still would love to know the manufacturer of the newer floyd 2011-->present
 
Ohh ok. I figured since it's a 2008, it would look different than the newer models.

Oh, is the piece that the arm is in suppose to move? Mine moves a bit. It's firm and feels solid but it does pivot a little.
 
Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I just bought a 2001 musicman axis with that kind of trem arm attachment. How do I go about to detach the arm? Is it the hec screw on the bottom pkate of the floyd? The arm as it is now wiggles and the hex screw in the bottom plate wont move in any direction.

What is the square part with the small 1.5mm hex nut for?
