If I remember correctly, the neck on that one is pretty dry....looked pretty thirsty to me. It's been there for awhile.....for the right price it would be nice player. I don't think it's worth the $950 they are asking right now.

Agreed on the price. I didn't play it for long but I don't remember the neck being too bad. In its current condition, I'd say it's worth about $800 or so. But they don't seem to dicker so it'll probably be on their wall for a while longer.

Maybe they're pricing it because of the rarity of the hardtail too. That's a possibility.

you know, when I was in there they had this deal going where you had to pick out what you were going to buy...and when you were checking out you got to roll a die....and for every number you got 5% off. 1=5% off, 6=30% off. I don't how often they do that, but I was tempted to take my chances on that Hardtail....if it had been in a little better shape....just maybe.

:(

I was hoping that purple/blue hardtail wouldnt sell as the guy lives about an hour from me. He said if it didnt sell I could come look at it and make an offer. Damn those people who wait to buy with 20 secs left. I bit the bullet and counter offered but it was too late to counter the counter. DAMN!

I missed out on it too. I made him an offer that he said he would take if the auction didn't sell. Yep 20 seconds left and 2 bids. I wish I had bid big now. Just to see that color in real life. :(:(:(:(

They are great guitars if you can get your hands on one. They occasionally pop up on eBay for a decent price.

I've owned a couple, though they've gone on to other forum members in my never-ending quest for my perfect guitar.

(belongs to radrock - and he can sell it back to me any day now :D)

I saw this and had to post a pic of my $150 knockoff of this guitar (aka OLP MM1, albeit with a blocked vintage trem):

I have that same copy of Guitar Legends!

The 'comic' still makes me crack up.

Sadly they discontinued the hardtail because of poor sales. Do you guys think they would sell better now that Floyds are a little passe? There seems to be a demand for the hardtail Axis from what I can see...

If the hardtail makes a return, I'll be the first to order a Pacific Blueburst Quilt top!!!!!!Then maybe dark cherry burst..............then maybe tobacco burst..........etc etc

My only real question, and it is a question, not a comment, is that the original Axis/EVH was designed for a Floyd. The pickups were designed for the Floyd. Does it make a difference when they are paired with a hardtail? Does it basically become a different guitar then?

Or are the tonal differences subtle enough that it doesn't matter?

I've always thought that the Floyded Axis sounded a little brighter/shrill. the hardtails sound meaty and chunky. Just slightly darker than the floyd model.

Maybe BP will change his mind. He's already stated it was the nicest guitar that collected dust on the racks though...

I'm pretty sad about that. :(
