Hi everyone!
I’ve been a fan of the Axis for nearly 20 years… there used to be plenty in stores in Paris back in the days, but I couldn’t afford one. Now that I have the money, it’s impossible to find it in stores or on the net, anywhere in Europe :(
The prices on the second hand market are also ridiculously high.
Any idea why we came to that situation ? lack of raw materials ?
Any idea when more guitars will be produced and shipped overseas ?
Thanks !

Thomann has a couple of Axis Guitars, but not a lot of Colors

I noticed an overall lack in Music Man Guitars in Europe, they‘re really hard to find for some reason. There used to be much more variety of Models and Colors.

(SUB US bien sûr ...)

Bonjour Skd !

The issue is this: Stores don't want expensive guitars that won't sell quickly and 99% of their customers don't want expensive guitars either. Every guitar that hangs on the wall in a store is payed for by the store before they sell it. If the guitar stays on the wall for a year or two years until the right customer walks in the door, the store is losing money because other guitars could have been placed on the same wall and sell quicker. As more and more customers are buying online at the lowest possible price, it makes it even more difficult for stores. Why? Because stores become a showroom for a different business (people walk in, try a guitar, and then go home and buy it online from somebody else). And every guitar that gets played in the store but doesn't sell quickly ends up being sold as demo or B stock at a lower price. It's just not interesting for a store to do that. So the stores are full of cheaper guitars and more expsneive guitars that have the most legendary status.

If there is a guitar from the current Music Man lineup that you want, you can go to any Ernie Ball dealer and have them order it for you, The guitar will be built for that order, i.e. for you. 6 to 9 months later, you will get the guitar.

François , ALGAM sont beaucoup plus grand que HTD, et mieux réputé selon mes ex-colleagues.

All Music Man Guitars are insanely expensive in Europe/Germany. My L3 Maple Top Cherry Burst cost around 4800€ which is around 5300$.
I would have preordered the Grapes of Wraith but that one is around 5800€ which ist 6500$.
No complaining here, I own three LIII‘s and I would probably buying more but at some point it doesn’t make any sense to buy a new one.

Yep, and I’m not a big fan of current Axis colors…

C’est plus sympa d’essayer avant d’acheter effectivement ! Niveau lutherie pas de souci je fais confiance à Music Man, mais niveau couleur ça peut beaucoup varier d´une Axis à l’autre avec les reflets dans la table.

Can I order a guitar in a different color than those on EBMM website ? :)

Yep, I’m thinking on planning a trip to the US or Japan, that would cost the same as buying in Europe :)

Any idea if new colors will be available soon ?
NAMM just finished and there weren't any announced, so I'd assume there might not be any. Unless they do an Axis in a BFR run, but that's usually only one color.

If you are looking for a color, used is going to be your best bet I think unfortunately. What are you looking for?

Good luck, Glenn |B)

There is a lot of colors that I like! I’ve been scanning all second hand websites for weeks, hope I’ll find the right one soon :)
