Axis Info. Derek Please

Coop,

This guitar appears to be an Axis Non Tremelo in Translucent gold. The Axis was available for a short period with a non trem bridge. The body appears to have faded from its original gold color to more of a natural finish. This has happened on some EVH guitars from the 91-95 period when we were hand staining the maple tops. For a period after the EVH guitar we also hand stained the Axis guitars up until mid 1997,then we starting to spray the tops. This particular guitar could be a hand stained top from the same period that is experiencing the same fate. Please let us know if you aquire this guitar.

Thanks

Derek

Derek..thanks alot!!

I will for sure let you know when/if I get it.

I also did some art for you guys, the Acoustic Slinky package and picked up a Axis Sport.

Will the Axis give me tones that are simular to the Axis Sport or is it a totally other beast?

Also do you have any idea what the apprx. value may be on the Axis?..he has it listed for 999.00(no case).

Once again thank you for your time!!!!!! Ernie Ball is the !@#*.

The Axis sport is a cool guitar but I prefer the Axis for smoother lead tones and a more pronounced crunch on power cords. The maple
top really enhances the the overall tones especially the Midrange. The main tonal difference is the Ash body used for the sport and the Basswood/maple combination used for the Axis.

The used market for these guitars is all over the place. It would be hard to comment on a market price.

Thanks

Derek

I have a hard tail Axis (same bridge as the one shown in the pic) from 1998. Mine is also transparent gold, but the top hasn't faded, no doubt reflecting Derek's answer to your question. All I can say is that the tone is extraordinary - how it does it from such a compact relatively light body beats me! Very hard to describe other than open, warm and resonant (through a valve amp & cab). Perhaps the best thing though is that I have found it to be very versatile. Enjoy if you buy!

Excited and rightly so! Particularly if you have/can find a valve amp and have no neighbours!! Sorry, that's the metal in me!

Enjoy, but don't neglect any other instruments you have!!
