You can't go wrong with the Axis. It's an all out Rock machine. Great feel and great pickups. Like yourself there are a lot of people who won't play "signature" models. Have you ever tried a Petrucci? I hope you don't overlook this guitar just because it has a Petrucci signature decal on the headstock. I've got 2 myself and love them. I wouldn't care if it had Sponge Bob Square Pants' signature on the headstock. They are great guitars. Based on the guitars you are used to, I think the Petrucci would fit in nicely.:)

I hope this doesn't sound too obsessive LOL now into the third day of owning my first Axis. I've only put it down to eat, sleep and ... :)

I played the Axis this afternoon at a rehearsal/jam and man even some diehards were saying how cool the Axis sounds and looks!

I'm totally sold on this guitar and I'm already planning selling my other guitars to fund another Axis and not sure which other MM - probably a ASS.

the Y2D is not asymetric, but feels like nearly the same measurements. the biggest difference is the edge where the fretboard goes over to the neck. on the Y2D it´s a bit "harder" not as rounded as on the EVH / Axis - but no big deal at all.
