Hi all,

Love my Axis pickups, would like to find another pair, or at least a similar pair to put into another guitar. Found that the Tone Zone and Air Norton combo is recommended by Dimarzio to be 'similar' to the Axis pups, just wondering if anyone knows of any manufacturer/winder out there that can get me a set of pups as close to the Axis pups as possible?

In fact, if anyone has a pair of Axis pups for sale, i'm pretty interested too.

EBMM doesn' sell them seperate (obviously), but every now and then they pop up on eBay. Keep your eyes peeled.

Or, I can let you know when they do...I "window shop" EBMM items on a daily basis. :)

Hi everyone,

I too love the sound of my Axis pups. I have a swamp ash Axis Sport.

I have an observation and a question. I found the bridge pup to be SUBSTANTIALLY louder than the neck pup. The bridge pup dominated the neck in a combined switch position. And that I have to turn down the volume when switching from neck-only to bridge-only switch position. Does everyone have the same experience?

I too visited the Dimarzio website and noticed that the Axis pup combo is most similar to the ToneZone/AirNorton combo. I don't think they are that similar at all. Has anyone verified this by installing the TZone/ANorton combo in an Axis?

Hi Darrel,

Thanks for the heads up and for the email as well...

It's a little more pricey than i hoped...but then again these things don't normally go for cheap i guess...

I'll be keeping my eye on this one...

You know Darrel,

Maybe it was a good idea that you didn't have the cash..

I emailed the seller and he offered to end the auction outright for the $125. I waited and got the PUs in the mail today and they don't look anything like the photos. Don't say DiMarzio or anything on any part of them, just a stamped F on one and a stamped R on one.

Plus, the backs are gold. I'm pretty sure the EVH PUs are black backed. I looked at the photos that you posted up of your purple and red EVHs and both of yours have black backs (you can see the color from the edge of the PU)

Crud, I think i might have just gotten duped (first in over 25 transactions). I just emailed the seller, hopefully he just made a mistake and is willing to rectify the problem.

Ergh.

Eugene,

If that IS the case, then I truly feel sorry for your incident. Things seemed to be genuine, and that would be a very sh*tty thing for someone to do to anyone, let alone you.

As far as I can see, I looked at the red EVH (which is home now, other at drummer's house), and the metal IS gold, the light of the picture is actually making it appear otherwise.

Aren't there some tags or stickers on the back that say anything, or have any kind of stamped number in the metal? If you can get me everything that you can see of ANY kind of identifying mark, I'll break out the screwdriver and pull off one of mine to see if I can help ya out there.

Damn, dude...now I feel bad. :(

P.S. If I DID have the money, and I got duped...trust me, the situation would get rectified. QUICKLY. Sorry you may have to go through this, man...

Hi Kokopelli,

I have a swamp ash Sport, and the pups in my guitar are quite even - no distinct difference to be heard under gigging conditions, but if one pickup is slightly louder than the other, I'd have to say it's the neck... Did you buy your guitar new? Maybe someone stuffed something under the bridge pup to raise it a little?

Hi Darrel,

No worries man, don't feel bad. **** happens. :(

I'll email you the pics i took of the PUS.

I emailed the seller and he requested for pics, said that he could've made a mistake. Hopefully he admits that he did and rectifies the situation.

I took a look at my axis, and it too has black edges around the PU. Also, the axis PUs have a satin like thing to the bobbins, the "evh" ones are shiny...and kind of feel..cheap...

Strangely, there are no identifing marks whatsoever on the PU. Other than the stamped F and R.
