If I were to get an Axis with a solid color (i.e. Graphite Pearl) then would the body still be topped with maple or would it just be solid basswood underneath?

All Axis and Axis Super Sport guitars have Maple tops, whatever the finish, excepting the Rosewood models (which have Rosewood tops and necks).

Axis Sports (no longer manufactured) have Ash bodies, without the Maple top.
