AXIS "Rare Colors"

Derek,

So I saw an Ebay auction for a Super Sport whose color is the burnt apple metal flake. Same as the Floyd Axis I bought from Guitar Center a few months ago. I love the color. But my question is, the auction mentioned that the color is rare. I've seen it in other Ebay auctions as well as seen it around town a bit. It sounds like more sales hype BS. Is it a rare color? Probably more rare than the over common amber, but how much more?

Just curious.

P.S. Speaking of rare colors, I once saw EB magazine ad for a pink EVH. I've never seen one outside that ad. Were they ever built?

I don't know about the axis but Yes, EBMM made Pink EVH's - Very rare less then 200 made-

Burnt Apple has been on the color chart for the past couple of years(Now Discontinued). It has been a popular finish on basses but not too popular on the Axis guitars.

The Maple Tops of the Axis model somewhat prevents solid colors being ordered in quantity because it covers up the wood grain. Translucent Finishes far out number the opaque
versions on the Axis and Axis Supersports.

Which finishes are opaque and which are translucent? I just ordered a Pacific Blue Burst Axis SS. In the picture it seemed to be translucent, at least the lighter blue color.

i saw a very cool opaque green axis on ebay a long while ago. i wanted to get it, but the jury voted unanimously against me.
