I recently got a new Axis Super Sport Rosewood.

It plays like butter. Tonally, it rocks hard. The rosewood makes the sound a little darker. I also love the feel of the vintage trem. Obviously, the feel of the neck is out of this world - they don't call it crackwood for nothing :)

At first, I thought the top, with the grain direction and all, reminded me a bit of 70s wall paneling ;) But I'm getting used to it, and I'm diggin it more now.
I like the specs of the guitar overall.

I'm taking her to band practice tomorrow. In my experience, that's the ultimate test, and I'll report more after I test drive her there. Revcently, I've become very aware, and obsessed I guess, about guitars cutting through in the band context. I play in a band with two guitars and keys, so the sonic space is pretty busy. Also, I've never really dug Dimarzio pickups, so I tend to be a little skeptical about them. I sure hope I eat my words come practicie tomorrow night.

Thought you guys would like some porn. So here she is:

And by the way guys, I know, I should have wiped the finger prints before I shot the pictures. But that way, you can see I've really been playing it :)

Here's a question: Is this a limited model, or will it be offered as a regular model in the future? If it's limited, do we know how long they'll be offered?

Thanks!

Stunning. Totally stunning. One of the best I have seen.

On the Dimarzio front......get ready to eat your words. They are responsive and deadly. The tone and vol controls realy add character when backed off, then......blast them up for the all important solo.

Enjoy.

Jonny

So I took my AxisRW to band practice tonight...

...and I ate my words. Those pickups are nothing like other Diomarzios I played before (the Petrucci's for instance). Much brighter and well balanced, frequency wise. I don't think they'll become my all-time favorite pickups, but they're most probably staying in the guitar. The split-coil tones were also surprizingly useful :)

I had a ton of fun playing the axis tonight with the band. It cut through pretty well - better than I expected. I'm very pleased with this one!
