Question Axis Sport and ASS - different necks?

I just stumbled something confusing (at least for me)...do the ASS and the Axis Sport have different necks?

Enlighten me...

same neck profile... the Sports for the most part are not figured maple...

No difference apart from the name on the headstock

I've also had three sports in my time, all with figured necks. Go figure

I have has several sports as well, Some with some without. But I seem to recall that the early ones had figuring, but after the pickguard was dropped I don't remember seeing one with a figured neck. I think that was about the same time the Silo lost its figured neck as a standard spec.

there was a modification made to the Axis neck in general. Ernie Ball added something like 1/32 of an inch around the heel area... you can read about it in the FAQ section. But even then, I have never noticed any real difference from the EVH to the Axis to the Sport...

yeah, Stratty, I was aware of that....but I was referring to someone trying to tell, that the Axis Sport was having a different overall neck profile. Whoever told the guy, this would be the case

to me it's the same neck, and mine got a lot of birds eyes

There's always a variance from guitar to guitar, due to the way that they're hand finished and sanded. All 3 of my Sports feel different, despite having exactly the same initial machining. My Super Sport also feels different, but again, the difference is really minimal.

All of the necks feel great though!
