Can Anyone describe the differences between an Axis Super Sport and Albert Lee HH for me? I've played every Music Man Guitar except the Albert Lee.
Are the Tones simular? Is the Tone a bit different on the AL because of the body shape? I have an Axis SS and after seeing someone post that awesome reverse burst w/ gold hardware, I lost it and now I want an Alert Lee !

I know there are a couple of hardcore AL ites here. Whats the best configuration on an AL? Humbucker? S/S/S ? 90's ? I already know I want a vintage burst. The Al body with that colour is perfect. Thanks for the help.

I have a Axis (not SS) and an AL-HH but to be honest, I have never A/B'd them or played them side-by-side. If I get a chance later today I will do that and post back. My gut is that they are similar, but the AL-HH may sound a bit throatier (bad description maybe) due to the body material

Well, the main difference is the body shape and the neck is a little bigger as well. I personally prefer the HH over the SSS because that fits me more than the SSS, although I do plan on getting me an SSS eventually. The tone between my ASS and AL HH is quite different. The HH AL seems to be more responsive, it's like you can here every single note that is struck, even with it gained out. A lot of more low end too. I'm not trying to take anything away from my ASS because it's an awesome axe as well. I would just recommend get out somewhere where you can play an HH AL, you won't regret it. Hope this helps.

sound wise they're very different. The Axis is a brighter rock sound while the HH AL is definitely darker sounding. I love the HH it feels really comfortable to play and I nearly always roll my treble off anyway so I guess I like the darker sound. Btw I still use my Axis and both guitars sound great clean.

Im with Colin... the HH AL is def darker sounding... I love position 4 (split coil) as it really gives you a great "strat-like" tone that is perfect for so many things. The Axis sport has a great strat like tone as well, but its brighter where as the AL is much more bluesy-rock. I think David Gilmour when I play the AL.
