Axis SS neck

I have a 2000 Axis SS and an older silo. I like the necks on both but, for me, the ASS has about the best I've ever played. I'm thinking of trying out another MM model, and would like to know if any other balls have same/similar necks?

The Albert Lee has a nice chubby neck, very similar to an Axis neck.

I like to think of those neck shapes as being very similar to my favorite baseball bat from my youth, sliced in half the long way. That's how they feel to me.

I have a little story for you all about that baseball bat. I took it to the batting cages recently, after not touching it for probably 20 years. I really cranked it, hit the ball, and the bat split apart right in my hands. Luckily, I've never had such a problem with an ebmm neck.

I have an Axis and I feel like the Reflex neck is very similar.

The Axis models all seem to have that neck profile. The Reflex too. The AL is the closest I feel, but it is more of a C shape, and the Axis has an asymmetrical profile.

The Albert Lee neck sounds similar to my Silhouette. Don't the Reflex and the 25th Anniversary have the same necks? I'd like to try out those two, and a Morse model as well, but that's getting tough to do these days. If I'm lucky I might find one or two EB's at my local GC. I'm only a couple of hours away from their SLO headquarters - maybe I'll have to plan a trip.

The Morse has a slimmer profile than the Axis SS, but it is wider at the 12th fret. If that makes sense.

I have an Axis Sport which has the asymetrical neck. I also had a Reflex, but in my experience that really has a different neck, not asymetrical at all. I believe it's closer to the Silhouette neck.

If you really want a similar neck, you should stay in the Axis, Axis Sport/Super Sport region. But do try the other models!

Yeah, maybe another Axis in my future. My ASS is the MM 90, hard tail model with the ash/maple body, I've never played a standard HH Axis or ASS. I also want a whammy bar on my next guitar. There is a nice rosewood ASS on Ebay right now for cheap, but I've read the rosewood model is quite heavy. I confess I'm also interested in trying out a Suhr with a modern elliptical or slim C profile.

The best EBMM neck I have owned and ever played is the Axix SS all rosewood body.fret,neck instrument, just s8ublimly good

I don't know why but it is the "Z" factor that unidentifiable element that can not be specified but you feel it as soon as you hold the neck.
