I have the same guitar with different knobs but with the same problem. I bought it used and was unsure if was aftermarket pots or knobs. To fix it i originally filed the top of top post down a little, but that didn't really work so I drilled out the base of the knob a little and it sat down nicely. I'll grab a pic in a few days as the guitar is at my practice studio and I won't be there until Tuesday. Interesting to see someone else had the issue.

That's interesting, but it sounds to me as if your pots where sitting uneven. In my case the pots are even, but the knobs are different.

The top hat style don't usually have a set screw to tighten them down they are usually held under tension. If your looking to replace them, EBMM offers them on their site, but I'd still contact the seller and CS to see what's up give them a chance to make it right, if there is a problem.

Shop Ernie Ball Music Man - Axis/EVH Knob

I'll wait for the shop's answer. I couldn't get them from the Ernie Ball shop unfortunately. I live in Germany...

The knobs are pretty generic- you can get any of the Fender style hat knobs and they'll work- they just press on. If they won't go on evenly, I'd just buy new ones for a few bucks from a local store, or online, and be done with it.

Personally I like the dome style ones, so I always replace those kind. But everyone has their own preference.
