You could order a pickguard for Axis Sport from pickguardsheaven.com or something, and then install it yourself...

Unless it's a one off I don't think they've ever made a ASS with a pickguard.

I wonder how it would look?

I can't claim to be an EBMM historian or anything, but I remember seeing this a while back, and it appears it was only offered on the sport. The description read:

axis_ssh.jpg

"This Axis Sport features the less-familiar pickguard and SSH Dimarzio pickup configuration that distinguished the earliest examples of the guitar, prior to it's evolution into the dual humbucker model sans pickguard that typified the Axis Sport throughout the majority of its production run. The smallish single cutaway body is a light Swamp Ash, with an oil-&-wax-finished neck, a five-way pickup selector switch and master volume and tone controls. One of the features I like most about these earlier models is the since-abandoned recessed neck plate that sits the top of the plate flush with the back of the guitar - a subtle, but remarkable finer touch. The excellent EB/MM tremolo has bent-steel, "vintage" saddles, but the hardened steel base and a chrome-plated, solid brass block offer an excellent, smooth, solid feel in use. Like it's siblings, this guitar enjoys the unique character born of the trademarked 4x2 headstock and distinctive, compact design in combination with a balanced, versatile tone, worthy of the label "modern classic"."

A little photoshopping, and this is pretty close to what a Super Sport would look like

To me the ASS would look funny with a pickguard, but that's me.

Any reason you want a pickguard on an ASS?? Why not just get an Axis Sport very under rated Axis model?

Nice job photoshopping.

Well the reason is simple

Tele Caster
Les Paul
Axis ( all of them )

have a point in comon , round shapes, one horn, and can bee equiped with 2 single coil ( mm90 ) or HBuckers..

call me pussy or whatever , but I think the lespaul is overrated ( tho I want one ) and is freakin' heavy and I dunno too thick for a confortable arm position when standing up and playing low ( okai you get used to it , but whatever )

I could just get a telecaster but whatever

I like EB MM , I own a Silhouette , and used to have a Sterling bass , until my last drummer pawned it from me and dissapeared and yeah , so whatever

I really like the small neck of the Silo, and kinda childish (small ) aspect of the whole thing. but I HATE pick marks on finish.... I love the sound of my silo, but would like the look of a tele / les paul , the Axis is the Axe for that , but no pickguard bumed me , so I remebered that pick about the A-Sport and thought it was ****in' A. and thought it was the best thing to do ;)

thanks for the info , I'll check that out

peace

Axis Sport from the forum had Chandler custom make a pickguard for an Axis Super Sport w/90's. I thought it was a cool mod so, with all due respect I copied a picture of it here

I believe the Axis Sport (not to be confused with the Super Sport) originally came with a pickguard as the photo above shows.

As I recall, Big Poppa said that he and Dudley liked the pickguard, but the customers did not, so they eliminated it.

The Super Sport is made of different wood (I think the Sport was ash) and I don't think they ever came with a pickguard.

I have a Trans Red Sport with a Black pickguard, and I love the look. Kinda tele, but way cooler.

I like the Sport a lot better with the pickguard. I don't much care for it without one. Maybe it's just that I'm used to seeing those gorgeous figured tops on the Axis and A.S.S.

Dude, cool thanx for letting know your reasoning it helped me to better understand.

Maybe well get lucky and hope that BP will post the picture. If not, I'm pretty sure it would fit, though your gonna have to drill some holes or have somebody do it. Also, there'd be no going back. Don't you think you'd be better off to hunt down an Axis Sport with a pickguard? I seem to remember seeing a few that HH configuration.

Sorry about the bass, I remember your posting.

I would love to get one of those HSS Axis sport with pickguard... I wonder if any were ever made for leftys... never seen one on the bay...

I find the pickguard look very neat on the sport, but would not want to hide the beautiful maple top of a super sport... However, it's all about what you want on your guitar.

Cheers!

anyone knows if anyone makes some Axis Sport pick guard anywhere, I wanna get a Axis super sport in the year to come , yet I want a pick guard on it ,

oh and really , I read , but I wanna know what you think of it , MM90 or HB ?

thanks
later

I had Chandler make a guard from my Super Sport MM90. If you look close you will see no screws. I use a couple of very small pieces of double sided carpet tape. This tape is very thin and removes easy and wont hurt the finish. I also changed the tone and volume knobs. I like to customize my guitars and enjoy changing them around.
