What would a fair price be for a 1 week old Axis Super Sport, flame top in translucent orange with matching headstock, birdseye/flame maple neck and board, 2 humbuckers, and a vintage trem? Totally stock except for a set of Dunlop strap locks.

This is the one that you won, right? You didn't pay anything for it, so it should be free. And you should give it to me. ;)

Seriously, Musician's Friend lists the following:

(No intelligence insulting intended here, but HH means 2 humbuckers. Just trying to quell that question before it appeared!)

Axis SuperSport HH Electric Guitar
List: $1,875.00
Our Price: $1,489.99
Sale Price: $1,319.99
---
Blem Axis SuperSport HH Electric Guitar
List: $1,950.00
Our Price: $1,489.99
Sale Price: $999.99 Web Special

So that gives you an idea of what you would see for one new and one blemished. I've been wanting one of those for a while (and yes, the color orange even!), but I invested all of my money previous into the gee-tars you see listed below.

If you're not in a hurry to get rid of it (i.e. have another guitar that could hold you over, are workable w/payments over a short term) and the price is right, gimme a shout via private message, and let's talk.

I stilll like the "free to me" idea though. ;)

Darrell's right to point at Musician's Friend, but the other place you have to look to understand the current used price on any guitar is eBay. Lets face it, if you're trying to sell a guitar on the Internet, that's the first place someone will check to see what others like yours are going for...

And make no mistake, your guitar is used. Whether one week or one year, once the guitar leaves the showroom floor it's used. A "mint" Axis Super Sport built in 1998 is worth as much as one bought last month...

Unfortunately, I think Ernie Ball Music Man guitars are in some ways victims of the very things which make them so good in the first place. What I mean is, because EB/MM only put out a very few guitars from a very small factory each month (relatively speaking), they aren't as well known as other higher-volume brands like PRS, Fender or Gibson. And I think that their highly individual designs - as brilliantly ergonomic and toneful as they are - are viewed by many as slightly eccentric. The end result is that they generally seem to have pretty low resale value... The exceptions to this rule seem to be the EVH's, and to a lesser degree the Morse, the Petrucci, and the Luke.

If you look at Super Sports on eBay, you'll see that none have actually sold for more than $750 in the last couple months... You might get as much as $800 or $850 on Harmony Central if you found someone who really wanted one just like yours, but I'd be quite surprised if you could get any more than that.

I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade here, but I think we've got to be realistic here.

Just posted so I'd know what was fair. I'm very much aware that when you take a guitar out of the store, that the depreciation is immediate in most cases. Just wanting to be fair. It's a great guitar...just not my great guirar.

BTW,
Darrell, the "free to me idea" won't quite do it  ...what did you have in mind:confused:

Repsond to that email when you get a chance. (I don't feel this type of stuff would be right to discuss on the boards here!)

Thanks man!
