Hey everyone I have a hot lead on an Axis that I'd love to pick up but one thing is terrifying me......the dreaded Floyd Rose! I am not a fan of them at all but since I tried the Luke's trem and had no issues changing tuning on the fly I thought it could possibly be the same as its a dive only trem. Can anyone here verify this for me or dive or not its your regular FR? Thanks :)

I think (but I'm not sure) that the Axis trems are setup for dive only.

If it's not, I think it can be setup to be without too much problems. There are also other solutions like a tremol-no.

Should the Floyd turn you off, you might consider an Axis Supersport, which comes in either hard-tail or the vintage trem (same as the Luke) and has the same pickups as the Axis (AND more switching options)

Yes, the Axis trem is dive only... What tuning are you planning to change to on the fly with the Axis? The D-tuna will take you to a drop D on the fly but if you want something crazy you will have to stop playing, unclamp the locking nut tune and then tighten it back up.

I will say I'm not a floyd guy but I love the Axis and don't mind the floyd one bit on it...

Well I would jump on it if it is a good deal since it is not a floating trem so any pressure you put on it will not change the pitch of the strings like a floating trem. You will not be able to change strings on the fly since you have a locking nut, but since you are only diving down string breakage is not really an issue. Also I hate too look at it this way but it is the truth, you will get more on a resale since an Axis much more desirable with a Floyd.

I love the way the axis trem works so much, that I just had my Y2d setup to work the same way. It's awesome. Also, the D-Tuna works really well with the axis. String changing is a bit of a pain, but it's definitely easier since the trem doesn't float.

Thats what I needed to hear guys :) If need be I'll pick up a tremol no or d tuna no biggie I just cant pass her up. Its a used Axis I would love a hardtail Axis Super Sport but none are available where I live used so this will be my opportunity to grab the guitar thats alluded me for quite some time now. Been trading and selling tonnes of gear to work my way over to this so when she comes home I'll post pics "or it didnt happen ;0)" Thanks again everyone

Being that it is "Dive only" rather than floating, Tuning is more stabilized, the strings always go back to pitch. I've set up all of my trem guitars this way, even non locking vintage trem bridges. Also if you break a string the bridge doesn.t go out of whack so the remaining strings stay in tune , so you can finish a song. The locking nut is a pain, you should definitely go for a SS, the vintage trem won't be a stretch for you, but nothing stays in tune like a locking nut.
