For those that have played both, did you notice a difference in tone? Any difference in weight or sustain? The BFRs look great. I own a JP6 BFR. Eventually I can see me adding another EBMM. Prolly going to go with the Axis as my buddy owns an old EVH that sounds amazing. Just wondering about the BFR version of the Axis as I have yet to see one in person let alone play one.

Jim,

Quite honestly man, they "all" sound great - with a little variation in each. Not better or worse, just nuances!! I'll take both - actually I have a very rare factory "custom" Axis 08' (still in the box) that I like the best!! I also have a 99' Amber Axis (still in the box) that shreds!!

I don't like to put unnecessary fret wear on any guitar I own, I have several guitars "dialed in" with PERFECT set-up/action, from the headstock down to the strap holder button that I gig with.

I think you'll notice some variation from an Axis to a BFR. Remember that there are some BFR Axis guitars that are that with only a solid rosewood neck and nothing different in the body itself, while others have the tone block. So you'll probably notice differences from one to another.

I've played several BFRs (and have an Axis and an ASS), and I can tell you that the tone was excellent on them all.

I have a BFR with the mahogany tone block and Birdseye maple neck. I also have a few regular Axis guitars. The BFR that I have has a warmer sound than the regular Axis. That was one of the biggest differences I noticed. I agree with the the above poster, both sound great.

Not the best pictures. I'll try to get better ones later. I also have a couple more Axis guitars just don't have pictures of them yet. I will get some.

Your BFR looks like the one I'm drooling over at LA music in canada(their website). Could I get some close up pics of the top? That finish really seems to vary from photo to photo.

Ok. I tried to take some better shots of the top. I didn't have proper lighting and that top is kind of hard to photograph.

Did you buy this from LA Music in Cananda? Yeah it's kinda heard to see the figure but thatnk you for the pics. If you get a chance to take sme in the sunlight or bright light that would be great. In any case thank you for your efforts. It's beautiful!!

No I bought it off of E-bay about a year ago from a place called The Perfect Guitar. I think they are located in Louisiana (in the US). I actually called them and we worked out a cheaper price than what it was listed for. I love it. I'll try sometime to get a picture of it out in the sunlight. It might take me a little while.

Ok so let me put you on the spot. Which Axis do you play most often?
