It sounds like you have the new style whammy bar. I can't comment on how to work with it, but could you post some pics of the bridge?

Hi Paul,

Did you get that tremolo bar figured out yet?

i push it in all the way and it works fine. i just wanted to make sure i was doing it right. it does not swing around like the ones ive used in the past it may need to be broken in. i mean if you move the bar it stays where you m0ved it.

bbake1 is correct. Depress the bar and there will be a 1.5 mm allen key that you can loosen to allow the arm to swing freely if that is your preference. Enjoy the guitar!!!

This is the first time I've seen the new Gotoh bridge. So MM is using new trem posts as well, and the saddles are different more like OFR saddles almost. Anyone know where I can find more up close photos?

is this bridge an improven over the other? why did they change?

Well, the way the trem bar is inserted now I see as an improvement however I am used to having a nut there, or whatever its called so its weird looking at a Floyd bridge without one. Although it being Gotoh and made in Japan you cannot go wrong.

That was one of my pet peeves with the Axis, it took too long to remove the trem arm. I like to carry that guitar in a gig bag, albeit a good one, and of course it didn't fit with the bar in the bridge. So I replaced the nut with a new 80's style Floyd Rose nut assembly and bar, and just screw it on or off quickly. I'm used to that cause I used to own 80's USA and Japanese Kramers...now my only guitar is an Axis ;-)

I like how tight your saddles are to each other, as it should be. Not sure if the new saddles make a difference but they moved towards them looking like OFR saddles more but just from the photos looks like they did a great job quality and design wise.

I am curious however, are the trem posts still like the old ones on the Axis and screw directly into the wood or is MM using bushings and the post screws into that?

The trem posts are different. They are now the same posts we use for the MM trem guitars and they do screw directly into the wood.
