How do all you Axis owners like your guitars? On the whole how is the figuring of the wood on the necks and tops ?

Hi there:

I had 2 Axis' actually, until I "upgraded" to the actual EVH models...one was teal flame top, and the other was a red quilt (the EVH's, if you're wondering, are red quilt and purple flame).

Overall, the Axis is a very nice guitar, and everything on that guitar is pretty much a thing of beauty. I just prefer the EVH...I don't like the scoop on the back of the body, as well as the location of the toggle on the Axis. The top's appearance as well as the neck just can't be matched by any other company IMHO.

I can say after owning said guitar that whether you already have one or are planning to get one, you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for the reply. I've played both the Wolfgand standard and just played the Axis after your response. I do like it better than the Wolfgang. The neck fells better. I guess I like the more rounded 10" radius. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that the Axis is anywhere from two to three and even four hundred dollars less than the Wolfgang depending on the dealer. Think I'm gonna order me one this week.

I have both the Wolfgang Standard and an Axis, and imho the Axis tops the Wolfie in fit, finish and feel... Tonally, they're very different instruments; the Axis is much more immediate, lively and in-your-face, while the Wolfgang is rounder and a little more reserved (possibly thanks in part to the inclusion of a Tone control)... I often compare the Axis to a super-charged Tele on steroids, and the Wolfgang to an evolved Les Paul, and I think in terms of comparison between the two the analogy fits quite well... If I could have only one, the Axis would stay.
