The Billie Jean cover is brilliant. It would be better without the autotune though (I'm old school!).

Lovin it mate. Get giggin it at the acoustic nights in Glasgow.

J

Used to do open mics etc but I preferred the more local ones but they all dried up.

Shame though it was good fun, trapesing into Glasgow is just a hassle - well when theres no money involved lol

I based it on the Chris Cornell version.
I havent actually got a version without the auto-tune.
I guess i'll have to dig out the project files.

Doug you definitely have to hook up with someone to write with. I used to have tons of cassettes that were half finished or had riffs and progressions that I never finished, as sometimes you can knock a song off quick and other times you have a good part but you get in a rut but you know it is good and those parts I would tape and keep.

A few years later I started jamming steady with a friend I did not see in a long time and we would pullout a tape and he would come up with a bridge or middle eighth and we knocked a bunch of them out.

Hey you are young just once, and believe me you would definitely have a better shot scoring a deal or having a hit record with an acoustic based song coming out of the shoot (John Mayer ring a bell, lol) than with something electric. I really wish you would try and push as hard as you can to write up some originals as I believe you have IT, and really give it your best shot while you are young.

My friend I was talking about writing with is 11 years younger than me and had a very talented band that spent more time fighting than making music. I was in the studio when they cut there Demo EP and it wound up in the hands of Virgin records who wanted to sign them. My friend Chris was managing them as he had invested about 20 grand in them and this rep from Virgin took him out to dinner and wined and dined him and they were set to get signed that night. I will never forget they were playing CBGBs in NY that night and instead of doing there set they decided to come out with acoustics and rearranged the first two songs and the crowd did not respond well and the next thing my friend Chris noticed the guy from Virgin was gone without even saying goodbye. They blew there shot. They tried getting back together in there early 30s but who had kids and other responsibilities it was not the same. A great player and now he is a doorman. Like I said your only young once so give it your best shot as I can definitely hear you on the radio with the right song. If you come up with something you think is the one I will pass it to my cousin who has a studio hear in NY. He is working with my niece for the last 4 years who is 21 drop dead gorgeous and can sing as good as any female artist out there today. Only thing is she does not like to perform and just wants to write. If you would like I would send you a few of her songs to see what you think but you have to remember this is like written with Kelly Clarkson or an artist in that age bracket in mind though they used one of her songs on a TV show already.

The thing that gets me twisted is my wifes brother is a semi regular on Gene Simmons TV show, he plays Tony Roman Genes Buisness partner though that is not his real name and still has not given Gene her CD as he still thinks his fat 50 year old ass is going to be someone and is one of those guys that only cares about himself.Gene is a wiz of a business man and believe me she would be charting already with one of these girl singers doing her songs though she sings better than them all if he had her tapes.

Couple of my very early recordings.
Could do these a lot better now if I got around to re-recording them.
The solo on Who's Cryin Now was fun though!

Toto cover I did - Not Unplugged though.
I made the backing track and did the guitar work. A friend did the vocals.
