I had a SR5 that got very little play and I ended up selling it. Mostly a 5 string thing more so than not liking it. Well, I was at GC today and they had a trans white SR4 two band, serial number 39396. Played great, but there's a 4"x4" section on the back that looks like a golf ball - lots of dings. But man, it played nicely and it's the lightest SR4 I've ever touched. It had the string mutes so I thought it was older than what I'm estimating as a '94 instrument. I think the price was nice - $650. Anyways, just wanted to give a shout. I'll try to post pics later.

I've been trying to figure out what caused the dimples on the back of the bass. As crazy as it sounds, I think someone may have shot it with a shotgun. Even more crazy, that adds to the instruments "mojo" for me. This bass sounds great. Maybe it's the 2 band EQ, I don't know.

It's weird. Normally I like my basses pristine, but all the dings on the back, the dings in the front, the headstock nicks and the chrome that's lost a lot of it's luster just makes it look older in a good way. In a great way, actually. Absolutely love the 2 band EQ. I never know what to do with the mid control anyways. Glad I made the trip to GC - almost mowed the lawn instead. Ha!

I have a Black/Maple SR4 s/n 35608 which looks like the same person owned it. Dimpled all over, and all of the chrome was tarnished to a very weird green color, I also paid $650 for it...........best is this , according to the serial number ,it came from a music store in Maryland ????? Is it some kind of tradition there to dimple your instrument ? I could care less about any dent in it as it is the best sounding bass I have ever owned, bar none!! I will try to get some pictures of the " sound enhancing Maryland dents" posted soon.

I've come back into the EB fold as well. I had a SUB 4 unlined fretless, Stingray 4H, Sterling 4H and a Bongo 5HS. I had a crush on classic Fenders and sold and/or traded all of my MusicMan's. I have since re-acquired a Stingray 4H and fell in love with the MusicMan vibe all over again. I am reborn as a MusicMan convert. I got another Bongo 5HS as well. I couldn't be happier. I don't know why I even bother looking around at other basses anymore.

Was at GC today and found out some background on the bass. It was owned by a punk rocker and the "shotgun pattern" on the back was made by repeated gouges from a spike belt buckle. "Good night Detroit, we love you!" Wham! on the belt buckle. Repeat over a lot of nights and it looks like a shotgun hit it. Bummer. I kinda liked the shotgun theory. Still sounds great.

Also got to try out the new Sterling basses. Nice basses that will give that segment of the market a run for it's money.
