Some of you know my 5 year old daughter broke her arm last month (nasty little break, she actually had to be air-cared to the hospital). After a bout with the cast (and infection, 3 pins, and an allergic reaction to the cast), the cast and the pins came off last week; Mo came up to me today after school and wanted me to get her bass back out. Since it was burried in my office, I let her thump on the Dargie for a bit. She hasn't quite gotten the left hand down technique :p but it was nice to see the right hand working. Now to get her working on Smoke on the Water and Peter Gunn :D

I have gotten several "well wishes" and I would like to thank you all. It truly means a lot!I have never been so frightened in my life and this (and the Bongo head shot) have kind of brought life back to being almost normal.

The experience was gut-wreching to say the least. When she got her cast off last week (4 weeks - it sounds so short for a break of its magnitude) I was very fearful that she would have reduced motion in her arm and hand. The arm is still slightly impaired but the fingers are good (my wife is a PT so Mo is in great hands) and everything looks good for the future.

As Mo was beating on my Dargie (and asking me why it wasn't pink) I let loose with a few tears... a proud-daddy moment, releif, a good laugh... all rolled into one. She has pretty much grown up with the 2 Bongos and it was nice to see the interest there (which lasted for a short time because Sponge Bob came on the TV). I'll try to snap some shots of her next jam session (which is usually a series of open Es and As with a bit of dancing thrown in (I fear for the paintjob on my Dargie's headstock))

Good to hear that everything seemed to return mostly to normal. Hope your daughter's arm makes a full, and speedy recover.

(And good luck protecting your Dargie's Headstock's Paintjob;))
