Two of my new EBMM basses arrived today. They sound absolutely STUNNING.

However, yet again my bad luck seems to continue.

There appears to be shipping damage as one of cases has an inch crack with plastic missing. The Big Al without the case shipping damage seems to have a weird crack down the fretboard edge and it looks like the fret near it is eventually going to cause problems because of it.

There are few problems, and I think something may have happened shipping wise, so I may have to wait again :(

Gutted isnt the word.
So, no pics....

I havn't had this kind of problem myself but I know people who have.

Take pictures of the packaging, etc. DO NOT THROW IT AWAY.

Also they might try and say that you shuld check before signing for it, and say that as you didn't they have no way of proving you didn't cause the damage yourself.

However if the courier hurried off before you could check, got you to sign before handing it over, or anything like that then they might give yu sem lee way.

I really hope you get it sorted it out mate.

Well they were brand new so covered by my stores shippers and also a 7 day returns policy. I was expecting a really good day now I'm just stressed! I'm not sure exactly what happened where as the fretboard thing, and chrome issue on one the neckplates may have been there before shipping. Not sure.

I've got a feeling I'll be back on the order list for 2 more now.

To add, the boxes are intact completely but came all the way to the UK, so could have happened at any time. They dont look like theyve been unsealed since leaving the factory.

Thats disappointing. All that wait, only to have it ruined by shipping problems. Kinda like canceling Christmas.

But I am sure you will get an intact bass. Its just a matter of waiting again.

Hmm well that is lucky.

However I have shipped a bass in from abroad once (america to uk) and it got stuck in customs, anyway when I was sorting it out over the phone they told me that things like guitars they nearly allways open up and check as they are very easy to hide things in, etc. They siad normally that woudl just be opening the case and having a quick look but if they find anyhting suspcious then they can choose to strip it all apart

Was unclear, was just the case for the Sterling damaged? If the Sterling is OK, then just the case needs to go back for replacement. At least you have one that can stay with you.

Hmm. Did the bass make a stop @ the dealers so they can inspect it first? They should've caught that there if it happened during the trans Atlantic trip. If they shipped it to you despite the damage then it might be time to look for another dealer. OTOH, if it happened during the domestic phase of the trip then I'm sure that you, the shipper and the carrier can work something out. Either way, it sucks that you have to wait again.

After buying a fair few in the past from new, I can tell they haven't been opened since leaving the factory.

Thanks guys. It's the wait that's going to be hard work.

Ouch. My dealer opens every bass I order. It goes from SLO, a couple of hundred miles from where I live, to Connecticut three thousand miles away where Pete can inspect it and then back to me. If, however very unlikely, there were any problems then Pete will catch it before I do.

Man, that sucks! I got a new Stingray yesterday, and the front corner of the case has an impact dent/crack. It appears to have done its job, but the box was basically unharmed. Makes me wonder if it didn't come from the store like that.

I'm really sorry for your situation.

thats a big shame after that wait. You could email CS so they know about it and see what they say. Replacing the case should be no prob as the dealer should do a straight switch but getting the big al fixed sounds like itll have to go back. Not good.

I know you'll be working with your dealer to straighten out the problem. It's important because it's the shipping party (the dealer) who has the "contract" with the carrier, so it will be the dealer who works with the carrier. You should certainly document all that you can so the dealer has the necessary evidence of damage. But from most carriers' perspectives, they have no legal responsibility to the receiving party.
