Im just gutted after a 5 month wait...plus they are all paid for and money on the credit card which means I'll have paid for them yet I think they are both going to have to be replaced.

Unfortunately the Sterling is out of my comfort zone re: weight. I know weights vary, but my Ray 5 seems lightweight compared to the Sterling. Unfortunately as I'd like to use this for long sets this isnt going to work out.

I apologise to EBMM for the thread...you guys make great instruments. I just think shipping and the fact one of them is too heavy for me means I'm in for a bit of stress sorting everything out.

Big shame. I still want an example of these two models but I think I'm going to have to wait again.

The other problem is it appears confusion over pickguards has occurred.

I am in touch with my dealer and he is off to talk to S&T at the London Bass Show.

Maybe in the rush for the show these weren't checked to my spec once they arrived in the UK.

Both my special order roasteds arrived with issues and had to be sent back to EBMM, so I know the feeling. The pick up on one was dead. The pickup mount on the other had a stripped screw causing the pickup to spring up close to the strings. Customer service was fast in both cases.

Credit card was prob the best way to pay for them as your company should have some sort of insurance too. However you had a 7 day return policy so I don't see the the issue there, send them back.

One with damage fair enough can happen but as you said 7 day return policy. One is too heavy, you won't be long getting on the bad side of a store. What if the next bass is too light or you don't like the neck .... There is a part of buying a bass before trying it out that you have to take a chance on, either that I get one off the shelf.

If it was me I would be a bit pissed about one with damage but the guys in cc will do there best on getting it sorted. But the sterling being to heavy, if I wanted a bass that bad that I had to order it before playing it I think I would live with it being a bit heavier than I thought.

I understand it's a pain waiting for months And I am not have a go dude. Just my 2 cents

+1
I had the same thing happen to me with an SR5. It was actually my very first BALL, and she weighed in at 11.7 POUNDS! I tried to love her, but eventually sold her at a loss. It was a 2007 LE Blue Dawn. :(

The thing is, I requested low-medium weight specifically as a priority...i know not all basses are light, but I'm only a skinny guy and if I'm going to favour the Ray 5 due to weight it makes the Sterling redundant. :(

I did order 3 brand new basses and spent a lot, and I've bought 2 others in the last 6 months, so I'm a good customer ;)

I bought 9 EBMM's in a 12 month period, but it didn't give me any special weight treatment. How much does the Sterling weigh? I had one that weighed 10 pounds, and one that was 9 pounds. Both very reasonable.

Havent got an accurate weight...I think I'll report in once things have been sorted out. Im not saying I deserved anything special, just that it was another problem along with shipping damage and a few wrong specs. Spent a lot and now got a lot of stress...although I know EBMM will put it right even if it's a wait. Problem is, I was meant to have my Big Al in October but for some reason the UK importer sent a single H, and luckily it was caught before it was sent from my dealer, but I had paid already. I decided to leave my cash with them and now I'm having more bad luck :(

No doubt this will get resolved and hopefully a New Bass Day which is a bit more positive will happen in the near future. No probs if the thread needs locking, understood.

If I was piling on in any way, it was not my intention. I was merely trying to offer my experiences with different weights from the many EBMM basses that I'd purchased over the last 4 years. No malice was intended. I hope all works out for you in a timely manner. Good Luck! :)
