I'm just curious how anyone here has to say about the actual balance of the guitar when standing. Coming from the RG which was all body weight because the neck was so thin, I'm trying to adjust to the balance of my ASS. Its definitely not like a neck heavy SG just different. Any thoughts or tips?

In one of the videos with Steve Morse talking about the SMY2D and playing the prototypes, I believe he said one of the things he loves about his guitar is that it balances perfectly. You can sit down and leave it on your knee and it will stay put. My JP balances well, so I'd assume the same for other EB guitars.

I never really thought about it, which probably means it balances just fine.

All my EBMMs are perfectly balanced, The Y2D indeed stays on your knee in exactly the position you put it (same with the Luke and Al). I also recall Steve didn't want a forearm contour for the Y2D because it would change the angle in which the arm aligns on the body.

Balanced, yes. I too would like a forearm contour for comfort. Just smooth little break, not sharp like the JP6.

Think that has to do with the balance though or just the comfort of it? I think the body is just so light and small but maybe. What about strap adjustment? Does that help in any way?

I actually think the lack of a forearm contour creates a small balance issue for me when standing. It certainly is just as much about comfort but, compared to my other Balls, while standing and strumming, the push of my arm can make it waggle a bit more than the others (maybe creating a lever like action). Don't get me wrong... the Rosewood ASS is my favorite of the bunch, so I'm just being nit-picky. It might look like total crap, with a forearm contour, too and I'm sure as heck not going to try and do it on my own.

to be honest I've never noticed it to be an issue. I played over 1000 gigs with an EVH (Axis) and never had a problem. I did have a good leather strap though
