In getting back to the original thread here just briefly; What do you guys think when deciding on a color on the Axis??
Does the "creme" binding (which I love) have to be a perfect match for the body color, or do you not even consider that?
Anytime I think of color on my Axis, I always include the creme binding in the overall color scheme.
I always thought Carbon Blue would have looked cool, but I was never able to see one. What's the scoop with you guys?
Maybe this is weird, but I have a really hard time liking solid finished on rear-routed guitars. It just seems like that much surface area should be adorned with something more interesting. As killer as some solid finishes can be (I actually LOVE carbon blue pearl....I really wanted a silhouette special in that finish), they just can't match up to a good maple top in my eyes. As for choosing the finish...i like it to somewhat match the fretboard. I love the honeyburst on my ASS because it's a lighter finish and I have a maple board. For rosewood, I'd go with a darker blue or maybe red.
