Balls on the wall

Just put my four balls on my plasterboard walls, I used the plugs that open up behind the plasterboard once you screw into them but I’m checking them every 2 hours to make sure all is secure.
I had a bit of a sleepless night last yesterday as well.

I must say that it was great today to be able to look up and just grab one and start playing it.
I put them up because since I bought my JP BFP I couldn't see me getting my others out unless they were easily accessible, they would have stayed under the bed collecting dust (what a waste).

I have 8 on the wall just now and another 5 Hercules hangers to put up when I get the inclination.

Could be worse I suppose (i.e. your sleepless night) you coulda used Woodies Invisibile Guitar stands....

All mine are hanging using the Hercules hangers, they look the buisness, i'm nervous because i drilled into plaster not brick.
I suppose weight wise there not les pauls but the BFP is a lump.

It sounds like you should be fine. I have had several guitars (including a Les Paul Custom) hanging on my wall for several years using 3 screw hangers (not Hercules), with these anchors:

Nope no hanging sorry, pull out the ones you want to play, store the rest in cases in a climate controlled area, hanging kills

i have mine hanging in my room for years now. nothing bad happened to the guitars.
btw. i´m using K&M hangers.

Keith, why do you say? I can understand it causing problems where the humidity varies wildly, but my room has been REASONABLY controlled and I haven't had any problems. Is there something I'm missing?

I've used hercules wall hangers for years and had no ill effects whatsoever. The guitars in the cases get no play time, the ones on the wall do so I follow your thinking.

Mine also go into the plasterboard and I too used more heavy duty wall plugs and all has been fine. That cherryburst ASS I sold (y'know the one ) was a heavy beast as far as EBMM's go and it never had a problem on the stands.

How you finding the JP? I couldnt get on with the flat neck...

Fing lives in Dallas, Darren/Lukather101 and I live in the UK so we dont get crazy temperature/humidity changes...

Each wall anchor has a weight rating on the box but nothing beats a screw into a wooden stud.

Anyway that’s water under the bridge now so let’s move on.
On your walls were you able to find any studs or were they hollow like mine, I’ve had a yank on mine and they seem secure but when you see them hanging there and the thought of just plasterboard holding them it makes me nervous
As for the JP I’ve never been that picky with different necks as long as it plays and sounds nice ,yet to play a ball I wouldn't buy which is a worry.
I think the Luke is the most comfortable though

I have had mine up on the wall now for a couple of months. Hercules hangers into hollow plasterboard with heavy duty plugs, no problems. And the JP6 is a heavy beast!

I love having them out, hate them being stored away in cases and being the UK as said earlier, we don't have to contend with the drastic humidity changes...the main issue is sticky 2 year old fingers which fortunately have a few years to go before they can reach

Okay now to get all you guys a bit sleepless.lol About 11 years ago I brought my Blonde Tele with a real nice finish that you could see the wood grain under the paint into my friends store to get a new pup switch, and he was telling me he just got in 4 way Tele switches which I had never seen before so I said I would try one and would be back a few hours later. Anyway when I came back he was out from the counter and when he saw me he went behind it real fast and looked all nervous. Then he started talking a mile a minute that he would pay me for the guitar and how sorry he was.

I said what the hell you talking about and the bottom line is after he put the switch in he hung the guitar on a hanger on the top tier and it pulled out falling about 9 feet and taking a huge chunk out from just below the bridge and causing 5 other dings. Now if this was any other store they would have just bought a guitar, but he happened to be a friend and was also getting killed as Sam Ash opened 10 blocks from him and was killing him. I told him to just forget it and we worked it out where he would work on my guitars for free. I still have that guitar and it has a few really big decals on it, but it was never right after it fell. Meanwhile he wound up going out of business a year later and I never had a guitar on a hanger again.
