My basses are generally on stands, and for the first two years of Jeremy's life they were in the living room. Yes, he was occasionally fascinated by them. No, he's never knocked one over or even touched one without me taking it down first and holding it for him. They're in the study now or in the studio and he has full access and I guess now he's so used to them being around that he doesn't even notice.

I gave him guidelines. I set the parameters. I enforced the rules. I taught him about discipline when the rules are broken, and no, I never had to spank him.

He says weird things like "Yessir" and "Thank you" and "Excuse me" and "May I be excused?" He is a joy in public and in private, and other people are drawn to him.

Parents are responsible for teaching their children. You, me, all of us parents.

But when other kids come over here, I lock those basses up. My generation, by and large, has done a completely horrible job of raising their children.

Or maybe every generation feels that way? I don't know.

But I treat other people's kids like loaded weapons, especially in my house.

All my basses hang on the wall or in stands in my studio. The studio is always locked; no children or cats are allowed! Its climate controlled and the security system is so sensitive that a spider actually set it off once.

When we have guest that have children with them (highly discouraged) I take them out back and throw the little bastards in the pool, a good parent will fish them out.

Don't get me wrong, I like kids.... FOR BREAKFAST!!!

My daughter's friends know to stay out of "Mr. Koogie's Music Room"....plus I keep my guns in there. I lock the room when I am not in it just to make double sure my stuff is safe. I learned to take the chord out of the guitar because my dog got hung up in it and broke the JP6 in the photo.

The good news.....Jongitarz fixed her up and put the pimp job on her and it is the best axe I own. So in the end, it worked out.

Kids are kids as we all know. It is the parents job to raise them correctly. Today, people think the schools are supposed to teach and raise their kids. My daughter is the same way as bovinehost's. She is very courteous and respectful of other people's things.

Kids aren't so bad to have around, Dude.

I have two (and a pool to throw them in). They actually think I'm funny! :D

I think I do good work, though... observe:

Dude,

Did I recognize Tlaquepaque in that first photo? Good beer at Oak Creek Brewery!

So, you've got one of your own, eh? Where did you go wrong? He didn't even grab the buttocks of those two hotties in the second photo! :D

Dude

I will let you in on a confidential memo regarding how to handle the DUDE

Ffrom the desk of Big Poppa,

Dear Staff and Securiy,
I think that we have all covered with the exception of the Dude. From intelligence gathered by Bovine and Koogs we may have to take additional precautions:

1.The dude does not sleep. He set a record buy posting at least once an hour for the last 27 hours. This lack of rest may cause erratic and aggressive behaviour. Keep tasers and pepper spray handy.

2. He doesn't own a washer and dryer...He buys his shorts at Target and throws them away when the liquor store guy wont let him in. Make sure you all bring clothespin and rubbber gloves.

3. Altoids...need I say more. We may need to Breathilize him hourly.

4. He has a habit of interupting celebs...especially when they are eating salads.

5. Becareful of his personal security. May have a grudge against Big Poppa.

yours truly
