Just got back from the Bass Centre in London - supposedly 'THE 'Bass guitar shop in London.

There was ONE EBMM bass in the entire shop that I could see - apart from mine, which I was bringing in for a service, so that doesn't count. So if you want to pop in to test drive an EB bass, forgot about it.

However, Nick, our old forum-departed friend would have been in Heaven. W*rw*cks all over the place, even a lefty one (that will tell you how many they must have!)

The fact that they advertise EB basses would lead you to believe they had loads in stock - ring before you make a wasted journey

When I went to The Gallery to test and buy an Epifani cab they had several MMs including a Bongo 5HH which I used to try out the cab.

Good to hear from you Dave.

I was in the Gallery about 12months ago, I bought an EBS Octobass - not bad, but not the be all and end all I heard it was.

The only problem I find with the Gallery is that it appears very cramped and stuffy, with everything crammed into a very small space. That's why I used to like the Bass Centre when it was at Wapping - that's not the same since it moved to World of Guitars.

Cheers

Over here in the East, Norfolk (the sticky out bump in the UK) we often get a decent selection of MM basses through Academy of Sound.
However a little shop in Bury St Edmunds, Sounds Plus, has just started stocking the little beauties and will get hold of basses when needed...

See its not true that we are totally stuck in the 1950s here. :D

Hey Lefty, I wouldn't rule them out on the basis of that trip. Might just have been that MM's had been flying out & they're waiting for new stock.

Just a thought.....

ive said this before but ill say it again ... i wish that you could walk into a guitar shop and see as many ebmm's as you see f***ders. my fav local store doesnt even carry ebmm. the GC's have a decent set of basses but you're lucky if they have more than 1 MM 6 string.

sure, theyre available somewhere online or you can order one but ive seen TOO MANY posts by people here (including me) where they want to try a particular guitar/bass but cant find one locally to get their hands on.

its a f***ing shame really.

This situation will greatly improve when EBMM floods the market with shiny new LEFTY Bongo’s. I predict that these lefty Bongo’s will be so cool that even right handers will convert and see the lefty light! :D

Say... did you actually go to The Bass Centre as in this link The Bass Centre - the world's first, foremost and most famous bass guitar specialists or did you go to the Bass Cellar in Denmark St. aka Tin Pan Alley?

If you did go to the Bass Centre, for what I hear they are no longer an open to public outlet but they only sell online and apparently, according to Barry Moorhouse quote "I can get you anything you want at a price more competitive than the high street stores" unquote - which is why he is only operating like this, and yeah I was there last month to pickup my new amp and he didnt have much EBMM stuff there.
