Does EBMM have a showroom or mini-museum or anything at the instrument plant? I would imagine that these types of basses would look good on display. But then again, they wouldn't get played and some lucky individuals wouldn't have the chance to buy them.

Please elaborate on the sound. Are you able to compare it to a regular Bongo or...well considering this is your first Bongo maybe not. But I would love to hear your impressions on this bass.

My impressions...are of course that it is an extraordinary bass. It's my "first Bongo" only insofar as I've not owned one before this, but I have played them before; a couple; (HSC and Single H...the double H, as this one is- whoa...)

Describing what an instrument sounds like isn't particularly easy for me-
Words like "awesome!" "Great!" and so on- what do they really say?

Or even- "a smooth, balanced, rich, buttery mid-hump..." That kind of description makes me hungry- and a little horny too!;)

But I can tell you it's a 2H Bongo, Mahog of course- Weight- Irrelevant & un-noticeable to me- I have both good straps and good positioning so the bass hangs nice and solid, easy to play- Thank the ergo body design for that.

Besides all the power within a Bongo, and the incredible EQ centers- Well, the mahogany produces very rich, phat and resonant overtones-
Always factor in a player's attack, signal chain, rig (I have some sweet rigs btw) to the output-
But the bass rocks and rules. It's pretty incredible. Other than that-
don't really know what I can say to describe it. Hope that helps!

mabongo that is one we rel;l;y hated to part with ...an incredible bass the neck is just killer too thanks for the support

I can totally appreciate that, Mr. Ball. It's an incredible benchmark build; I'm happy to support what you guys do up there; always have.

Please note and be assured- That bass will be PLAYED! It won't sit in a vault or behind a glass case; I'm working it, starting this week-end, and what a great tool for keeping it in-the-pocket!
Thanks to all who moved building a 'Hog Bongo forward...Good move!

And finally- This Bass is good enough to eat!! As a matter of fact, I think some one tried to do just that on the upper horn!

Peace and SOUL!

I was not going to mention the war wound it got at the BPL....PEople are just so careless when playing others instruments....sometime during the firday someone took a chunk out of the top horn...We were sick about it....I almost wouldnt sell it because I wanted the one off to be perfect but the GC guys said wisely, 'How abou tif we let the customer decide?"

THanks for understanding the situation and not let it get in the way of a truly special bass...

Advice that you probably have already figured out with the bongo.....you dont have to dime the vol I like 75%....flat is good.... cut anc boost is better than just boost...the pan control is your friend....

Ahhh, just adds a little character to the bass, plus when the strap is on, what bite??!;)

Funny- when GC called me-Drama! "I d-d-don't know how to tell you THIS, b-b-b but..."
Oh, man, he made it sound like it was gouged out of existence!:(
No big thang, & it CERTAINLY does not alter the incredible performance and tone, not one iota.

Thanks for the eq advice; well-taken! The Mahogany (and double H's-whoa)
add yet another element of fear to the already-deadly Bongo.
I knew from the 1st time that I played one; when they inititally were intro'd- that they were NOT to be taken lightly!
"Hmmm"- I said; "Those crafty people up in SLO are doing something just a bit different here with THIS model...."

**the pan control is your friend....
AMEN! True that- My GOOD friend!

Ultimately, I'm glad now I had the patience to wait to purchase one.
Sometimes, the timing is just right...

im very jealous. what are your views on home invasion?? do you own a handgun?

I'M jealous that you live in London! We "did" the Cotswolds, staring from London,Notting Hill, this Summer- Portobello Market, Covent Square, Tower of London, Hampton Gardens inc. "the Great Vine", all that, then the countryside...

(except for the food) Wonderful! Stratford-Upon-Avon, Oxford, Salisbury, STONEHENGE!!!
Bath, Arundel, Broadway, bit o' Wales, Brighton, Kent, etc. back to the Novatel London. London is one of the coolest cities in the World, but I was NOT allowed to go to Bass Centre!! Something about "containing my arrested development and taking in Culture" Well, I guess she knows best...

No, no handgun, Invasion unnecessary call when you get here; bring a cord.

Only have an attack fish (you've been warned) and an 11-year old golden retreiver that would ask you to move a bit closer so that she could bite you...

sometime during the firday someone took a chunk out of the top horn...

I promise it wasn't me. I did pick it up a few times to admire it, though. I can't believe I didn't play it, but the headphones stations - while perfect for that type of event - would not have done it justice anyway.

But yeah, to state the obvious, that is one special bass. Besides being gorgeous, It must be freakin deadly with the mahog body ... talkin sonic weaponry ... LRAD.

Congrats, Mabongohogany.

I enjoy going to Denny's once in a while, but be certain that you are not gaining any credibility with that comment.

What? Really? I thought Denny's and Waffle House were staples for musicians....at least the ones I know...If it were not for Bojangles, Waffle House, IHOP, and Denny's I know a few guys who would literally starve to death...LOL!

:D

BTW - I am only half joking...

Peace,

T

What? London has some of the finest food in the world!

Yeh, but....Beans on Toast??! For...Breakfast..??;)

As in any major Metropolis, ya gotta know WHERE to go-
Sing with me:

"I love Titos' Tacos; You'll Love Tito's, too"

One of our (Los Angeles') finest.

Best food in England was Indian food, in Bath- In Covent Gardens paid about 25 British pounds for a Chicken Dinner at a NICE restaurant (that's about 50 smackers American); I would have sent that bird back at El Pollo Loco, where it would cost me $5-6!! And...

After telling a London Cabbie that Harrod's wanted 12 pounds for a cup of coffee, he told me to go to one of the Green Stations and grab a cup for a half-pound...Shhh!

Well, now I'm hungry! Maybe I'll go and take another bite outta the MAHOGANY BONGO!!!!!:D

Oh btw, I remember, we ate at a pub in walking distance of our Notting Hill Jarvis Hotel-
It was superb! And the Bartender made me try 6 different kinds of Hard Cider before she let me order!

Hmmm...that was a great vacation now that I remember...
