...Too funny!

The Notting Hill bartender/waitress actually looked very good before my 6 pints of "Cider Goggles"; and IIRC, they were OUT of haggis at that time!

Bummer! (Believe it or not, it was on the menu so to speak at several buffets we were offered throughout England... I dunno, I guess I never was THAT hungry!)

On a more appetizing note, I'm bonding with the new addition to my family/arsenal/armada of bass guitars;
Thanks for the dead-on set up from SLO I assume.

Are those the standard gauge OEM strings? They feel
PERFECT, just the right combination of rubbery "snap" and solid THUMP.

The majesty of Bongos has been well and justly documented here before, so not much I can add to that.
Play one (other) awesome bass, get a groove, lay into it, then a quick-change to Bongo'Hog-
fergeddabout!! TKO---Game-Set-Match; the WINNER! by unanimous decision...:D

Maholahongobongahogany,

Did you see LaRue's mahogany Bongo? As far as I can remember, yours and his are very similar.

I have some other decent shots of it, having kidnapped it once for a day or three (if you're interested and haven't seen 'em already).

LOL+
Oh, man, I totally dig this place!

Jack, yeh, I had seen that bass (pictorial depictions thereof) before; far as I could tell, except for the pup configuration- same 'ol same 'ol (-:

Please DO post some shots, I'd especially like to see if it has the same BE neck. That is a piece of work I must say-whoa.

And outside of the fact that I do believe that Mr. LaRue can prolly do a wee bit more than I can on the axe, very thrilled to share a similar piece of gear!

Great thanks for that; super pics.

Isn't that BE neck the fer-shizzle?

It feels like glass; the radius, the sheen, the action.

MAG-netically MAG-nificent. Boy do they know how to build basses in Central Cali....

Ed, that one is Dave Larue's.

I thought long and hard about packing it up and heading back to South America and living happily ever after, eating guinea pigs and so on.

Okay - just to clarify...

The Denny's thing...yes the waitress was very attractive. The food was horrendous, but significally better tha any other food we came across on our travels...except some excellent seafood in San Fran, and some WICKED 'carmel' (caramel in real english) apple's at a street market in Monterey. On the whole, the american food we came across was utter sh*te - but I love that. Food in London is expensive, but great - and as I'm old enough here to drink it makes it all the better. In fact, they're making incredible cider right outside my town - 7.5%. Loverrrly.

Also, Guiness in the good ole US of A is just...weird...

I'm not looking for credability from a bunch of dudes on a forum, but I am trying to provide some sort of humour for you yankees with these differences. Man, I'm starting to sound like FRan (no offense...)

Nice Bongos. I'm thoroughly enjoying this.

Foodstuffs

The CIDER in Notting Hill (all six sample cups) was excellent, I forget which one I ordered, it wasn't the semi-bitter one.
Also had some Cider on Tap at The Wadworth, a pub in Coomb's Crowne, or Queens' Coombs, something like that, I forget!! Some ridiculously lovely and quaint town in the beu-uuutiful Cotswolds.
Paradise! It can't be believed that people can still live in homes with lovely thatched roofs, so peaceful, unlike the 405 Freeway...

BUT- LA has a thriving arts scene, a cross-cultural vibe that if you dig it, is very enlightening, beautiful weather (sometimes) and

TITO's TACOS....

If you have to ask......

Congrats on the Bongo!

By the way I almost pissed my pants on the "fail" post Jack.

Duarte... Denny's has its place... I really appreciate it actually. But there is always the "Good" Denny's and the "Bad" Denny's... and there is a huge difference between.

But yes, hot waitress + breakfast food at 4:00 AM is always a good thing... especially shared with friends.

I used to live in SW Florida... and we had AMAZING resteraunts EVERYWHERE... I now live in East Tenn. and basically all resteraunts are chains... not bad... but not great either..... but still nestled away are a few hidden gems. Best to find a local (preferrably one with some girth :))...

Back to basses... Anniversary Mahogany, or transparent finished/burst Bongo... I'm in.... but yeah... they haven't even hit double digits yet have they? They still have bounce houses and pony rides at their birthday parties. :)

Once after a show in Buffalo at 2 am in the morning my band decided after a couple of pitchers we should drive up to niagara falls just to see what was going on. Not realizing that everything up there young men can do or would want to. apparently closes at 12.. After driving around for a while we finally settled on Dennys, and ordered Burgers and Milkshakes and a couple glasses of their house wine.

After settling up we crossed the rainbow bridge back to the us and were met at border patrol, who asked "what was your purpose of your visit to canada"? Me not thinking and driving a van full of drunk musicians. "To eat a Denny's" The border patrolman. "Are you aware there is a Denny's right there" As he gestures to a Denny's Less than 1000 ft. from our location in the US.. Me "Sir.. have you eaten at a Denny's in the US?" The officer considered this for a few seconds. Muttered good point, and begrudgingly let us back in the good ole US of A. To this day i have not eaten at a Denny's in the US.

I am glad you enjoyed it though. I hope to make it to the UK one day.

I loved every second of it. I intend to move to the states once I've done here.

Also, if you do ever come to the UK, come round my house. It's small, but we have a massive wood burning stove:

As you may be able to tell, we just had it re-thatched. :D
