Wow. Great to HEAR Juan playing a MM. It's been sad over the last few years having his great 5-string playing um, muffled on those other basses he was playing. The Sterling totally fits him. More growl and more funk than anything else he has played.
I also love the way Juan "soloing" is still Juan playing the bass part. He never gives up his responsibility for the groove. Anybody besided me miss him on the last Ben Harper record?
I would never have argued with Juan's tone before, but yes, the Sterling does sound amazing in his hands. WAY more funky. (Plus I think the guy who built his other instruments is kind of a.....very interesting personality.) (Ahem.)
And YES! I missed him on the last Ben Harper! Really, I come and go on BH, but I'd listen to him anyway because of Juan.
