Edit: see post from 3.24.22 for NGD

Hi ya’ll, I have posted here before but it’s been awhile and mostly in the bass section. No EBMMs in my bass stable but I have had some NICE ones over the years. So, I 100% knew the quality and innovation of the brand; the Big Al SSS is so great!
Anyways, I started getting a wild hair about a year ago to get an electric and an amp for my music room. I have kept the same Acoustic for 20 years and had electrics weave in and out. But I have been bass and synths focused mostly and I have a ton of that in my jam room.
At times, I was thinking of a shred guitar like an old Charvel. I started to think a S. Korean PRS may be a good choice. I knew I wanted a tube amp but I would try to spend $500 or so on a combo.
I don’t know why I started looking at EBMM guitars, I am a bass player. Good enough is good enough for guitar because I spend way too much on bass/synths/etc. The Valentine was interesting to me, I knew I would dig an AL. I really thought long and hard about a Stingray. The Axis was cool, I liked some Cutlasses. The other guitars, though some really cool, weren’t calling me.
Then the Mariposa was released, in that fantastic Pueblo Pink…Holy Smokes! I was in love and I knew I was in more trouble too! You can’t just play an awesome guitar like that through a halfway good amp 😂
So, after a few months, I pulled the trigger on the PP Mariposa and an Orange Rocker 32 (great tube amp - cool for stereo pedals)! I have had these 2 for the better part of a year and man, so glad I went big because I wondered if I was being nuts getting this great of a guitar rig but DAMN I sound good and play better than I thought could. More inspired to pick it up more.
I am blown away by the neck (of course), it just sounds great, it’s more flexible than one would think with 2 volume controls, I love how stable the tuning is, etc.
All has been well, I have thought that I should get a Tele as a compliment to the Mariposa. So, I have looked at some Teles, but there are only so many in sexy finishes, EBMM got me spoiled. Also, I honestly don’t want to spend a lot for a US Tele but I know me and I won’t be happy unless I have one so I been hoping for a $1000 or less miracle.
But then the other day, I saw the Pink Champagne Sparkle Valentine…please be still my heart! AND I DON’T LIKE GOLD HARDWARE AT ALL! I am looking at pictures of them between Zoom meetings at work. Oh geez, here we go again!
So how will the Mariposa and Valentine compliment each other? How long until I buy I buy an AL or Cutlass SSS? Or an Axis or AL with MM90s? Surely I could stop after that, right?
Help!

Delta, that's cool, but around here it doesn't exist without pictures (hahahahahahaha)!!!!!!!

If you love the Big AL, you gotta get a AL.

Congrats, Glenn |B)

I love my Valentine - its my favorite guitar for clean and dirty-ish playing! The neck does the fat and warm thing, the middle does the Cream thing, and the bridge pickup does the nasty Tele thing. Then you have the boost and split option on top which really drives all of the above into the next level. Hard to be upset with it :) I think you'll really enjoy it if you're into those sorts of things. The Cutlass, StingRay, and AL are all excellent choices too - you can't really pick a bad one.

Is that one of those Eddie's Guitars anniversary LIIIs behind the Valentine?

Yar - that be correct. I had another Luke 3 and bit the bullet on theirs when I wanted a more incognito approach for formal gigs. The Luke is my number one all-rounder guitar that ends up at most gigs.

That’s a sweet Valentine! Is it a hardtail? I think I have read that there a Valentine w/Trem has a slight tonal difference than the hardtails. Does anyone have any thoughts about that?

Yes this one is a hardtail but I've had both. I'd say the tone difference is trivial, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Get whatever is available and/or better for your style!

Man, I am getting EBMM GAS bad. There is a AL SSS Piezo that is pretty attractive to me.
I got into looking at St. Vincents last night. There is a cool 2017 stealth; is it a painted/poly neck on those? The Goldie seems like a nice fit except I don’t love the colors but I could live with Cashmere. I am still feeling that Pink Sparkle Valentine pretty hard. There is definitely trouble a brewin’

Well, I didn’t intend to buy another guitar so quickly and I ended up with one I didn’t mention prior in this thread, a Black Reflex! It’s not here yet, I got a good price and it has a few dings. I don’t think that I will want to keep this guitar Black; I am thinking new paint like Tangerine Sparkle.
So excited!

Well the Reflex arrived and it sounds/plays AMAZINGLY GOOD! I am loving all of the tonal options. Of course, the neck feels and plays fantastic.
I knew this one had taken a few licks over the years so it’s not mint. I don’t like black guitars but man, I could just get over it BUT nah, it’s going to get the Sparkle treatment - maybe something like Salmon sparkle.
