It has been our experience ....

We don't have exact figures - but we have heard from many players who have tried these and they always seem to ask us to show them how to rewire the original. Our advice: If it works, don't "fix" it.

On this note though (as a kinda weird analogy).....

I got a Ford Focus. Plenty of them about, some stock (like mine), some with the most ridiculous spoilers/lights/exhaust etc etc and I really don't know why. We don't have the roads for that sort of 'performance' vehicle, and the bodystyling mods look crappy IMHO, BUT, if the fellas that drive them are happy........

Yes you are very right, but i do alot of repairs in my area on people who dump they're stock PU or pre-amp for something else and call me for a Stock Parts to go back in.

Serious I don't know too many people who have other replace parts in their bass that call me and say, wow this rocks, it's more like yeah its ok but hey will you put a stock pre-amp or pickup back in for me

You know what it comes down to? It comes down to the fact that we are (mostly) guys, and the unwritten rule about our possessions is this:

"Until I have effed it up, it is not truly mine."

My comment; If I ever break down and buy the Sterling I want I ain't changing nothin; period.... wait; I'm broke down, that's why I can't buy one..

I have 4 Sterlings & only thing I changed were pickguards on two & all have a Hipshot D-tuner.

I truly love my Sterling "as is"; its probably the first bass I have ever owned that modification is not even a consideration. I am certainly a chronic "tweaker" on my basses and can relate to those that graciously put food on the table of replacement pickup mfg'rs. But I guess thats why I have multiple basses to satisfy my "never satisfied" fetish.

For me, I bought the Sterling cuz its a Sterling, not a potential X,Y, or Z project/experiment......it stays AS IS

BP and crew do good don't they.

In my mind the only reason to change your EB bass is if you are trying to do better than BP and crew.

Ya better be good and work hard if you are going to get that done.

Interesting . . I have the same basses: 2SR4, SR5, Sterling, & a Bongo.
Are you also currently considering a new HH Sterling ?

Am I that transparent? Ooo, transparent, as in trans teal for my new HH Sterling.
