Basswood vs alder?
after how many years of playin' and prolly far too many trades and acquisitions ..... it's become obvious that I am a fan of basswood - especially when complimented with a maple top, dual 'buckers, maple neck and whammy .... so much so, that two of my remaining three guitars fit that description.

I use alder alot to smoke Salmon ...and i agree much better than basswood ...it leaves a funny taste in my mouth!
Personally, alder only does it for me with single coils, and at this point I haven't had much luck with it; I tend to prefer a warmer and more rounded sound. That said, poplar is something to consider as well, and I'd love another guitar made of that someday (maybe a Morse?).
