So I'm on stage the other night and my bass starts cutting out - similar to a battery dying. I quickly replace the battery and it's still cutting out. I grab the chord out of my buttercream case (Ernie Ball of course) and the problem is solved. I then look at the chord that stopped working and found it is not an Ernie Ball.

Because I move around on stage quite a bit, I tend to step on my chords a lot. I've gone through the best of em, but never have I had an Ernie Ball chord fail me. So I just wanted to say thanks for making the best accessories that go with the best instruments.

I had no idea EBMM made cords.

The noisy cord may just have dirty contacts - a couple sprays of Caig's deOxit may help.

They may also be referred to as "cables" in some parts of the world... Where I live we say "Kabel" so maybe its just a color/colour, center/centre, favorite/favourite thing :)

Here is a link to the product age: Ernie Ball | Products

I too have heard they are good but I haven't seen them here in Germany anywhere.

Cord - Doh!

Hey wait a minute.....didn't any of you read the Forum Decorum? Aren't your Brother Bassists off limit? Have you no empathy for someone who's just returned from a 3 hour rehearsal?? I'm shocked! I......I.....I can't wait to get even. :D

If I understand the current Decorum, we can only cut you slack if you are a skinny string player :D:):D

Stepping on cables shortens their life. This is especially true if they're on a hard surface.

I am careful to avoid stepping cables whenever possible.

As with basses, it's worth to use professional equipment. From amp to battery to bass to cords to cabinets and finally the console. Makes for a very dependable signal path.

Wish I had that sort of stage space...

I just picked up a wireless unit and that avoids the whole "stepping on my cord" problem. While I don't usually play large stages, I have never liked the feeling of a cable dangling around my leg and it always seems to be an annoyance. Problem solved!

That being said, I don't think I've ever had a patch cord fail on me.
