I must admit I haven't been in the habit of testing my battery anywhere near often enough (Until now). I have recently been in the habit of leaving my SR5 on the stand for several days, in an attempt to encourage some more consistently regular practice. I did discover one side effect of this......
don't leave your cable plugged in!! it flattens your battery pretty quickly!!
For mine, I don't really like to be in position where I know the battery is just about gone and I need to change it quickly. Apart from the obvious uncontrolled distortion, it freaks me because I still have to use a screwdriver to change the battery. Not something you want to be doing on stage in the middle of a gig!!! Imagine if I slipped because I was in a hurry
. That thought gives me cold shivers.
I am fortunate though that the sound guys are always ready with a healthy supply of new 9volters, and even a voltmeter if I need it. The tongue test still works for me though.
I am looking forward to an easy access battery cover for my next MM.
