It's just like a new car ... a lot of babying, polishing etc. at first.

First (inevitable - just a matter of time) dent sucks, then you get over it and move on.

That's why you have to buy a new car and bass once in a while ... to get that "feeling" back.

Initially it pisses me off royally that my bass has gotten a scratch or nick. But after a while I come to look upon it as a part of life with the instrument. It gives it character.

I totally agree, I have been soo mad when stuff has happened, but now it's part of the appeal of my instruments!
